I approached this team from a referral from my home builder when we realized our home had radon which needed mitigation. There was minimal conversation. I exchanged an email with **** after submitting the request on their request page. He called me, mentioned the cost, and sent me a proposal via email. I agreed with the amount, signed it and sent it back. The team came over and completed the installation with no issues. So, far everything was good and I was reasonably happy with the encounter to the point that I was sharing this in my HOA group. However, after installation, when time came to pay, **** sent me an email for the payment note, I mentioned to him that I was going to pay by card and he insisted that I needed to pay an additional 3% if I used to pay by card. This was no where in the initial contact, the two calls I had one with **** and the other with the install scheduler, nor in the emails exchanged before installation. I pointed it out to **** that it was a surprise that there would be an additional charge and I will not be paying that extra 3% fee as it was no where in the terms and conditions, and has never been brought up to me until the time of payment. I explained on the email that it feels like a sneak up charge and I would like to make the payment without the extra charge. He insisted that they will charge me the 3% if I want to pay with card and claimed that they were a small business and credit cards charge them etc. My point is straight and simple: You cannot add on an extra charge at the end to the customer without any notice whatsoever. I even mentioned in the emails that I am happy to adjust the amount down by 3% and pay in case their website did not have the provision to remove the 3% charge. Just had another call and email with ****, and it is clear that he prefers to go the legal and collections route than remove the 3% sneak up charge which was NOT in invoice. I will NOT be referring this company to any one in my community.
