A contractor did work for me. I paid him. He then sent me a second invoice (same day) indicating the first was not enough /- and has been harassing me and threatening me with a lien on my house ever since. The second invoice is for $478. I called him to explain that I paid him for the work he did, and he argued that he thought I told him that additional funds. We are at a crossroads but he continues to contact me incessantly, multiple times a day, and I cannot get him to stop.

I am concerned for my families safety and he wont stop contacting me.

    Consumer Response /* (3000, 7, 2022/12/06) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
Mike's statement is not correct. I returned the windows to lowes because Mike said they were not returnable. I had the funds credited back to his credit card within a few minutes at lowes. I could have asked for the funds in a store credit but I didn't do that. There was a restocking fee of $120 but I agreed to pay that. I asked Mike for a revised estimate because he did the tare out of the windows but not a replacement of the windows. I asked for a new invoice because I was submitting it to the insurance company and the one originally invoice provided stated the windows were replaced, this was not the case, so it was inaccurate. Additionally he had received the credit back on his own card for the window return so the price needed to reflect the return of $508.35. Mike then decided to invoice me for an additional $478.00.

At no time did I ask for him to lie or even communicate to my insurance company. I simply needed documentation of what he did complete and to remove what he did not complete, the installation of the windows, so my documentation was accurate.

Overall Mike spent a small portion of time of what a full tare out and replacement would have been and yet he billed additionally for boarding up of my windows. His second invoice came after I asked for an adjusted invoice for the window return. He has been paid for both invoices even though I disagree with his billing practices because I am an honest person and this is how I conduct business.

He was paid within days 5 days of when he completed the work yet he harassed me repeatedly to be paid and threatened to put a lean on my house. This is ridiculous, impractical and a horrible way to do business.

    Consumer Response /* (4200, 18, 2022/12/21) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
You can close this complaint as we are just going back and forth on this and it will not solve anything. I have already paid the contractor so this matter is settled. I also have a COMPLETE record of the text messages if needed however it will not solve anything. In this business honesty is everything and I still think Mike is not being honest with his billing practices or on the fact that "I asked him to Lie to my insurance company". I have saved all the text messages and can include them but it will not do any good. Please close this case. Thanks!
