    We contracted Sunmar to build the backyard of our dreams - pool, hot tub, patio, fire pit and outdoor bathroom/changing area. Unfortunately, **** and Sunmar have only delivered nightmares.We signed the initial contract in May '22 with the promise of "swim by September". Sunmar invoiced us immediately for the 50% deposit which we promptly paid. They dug up the yard, and as quickly as it started everything ground to a halt. Days, weeks, and months went by with only minimal progress.Lack of oversight, mistakes, endless crew rotations, little to no communication, and sloppy work were the only constant and consistent factors on this project. However, when the project milestones were eventually reached, and invoices were sent - we promptly paid. By January 2023, the pool was "finished enough" to add water. Over the next 5 months, my children would ask me every day when they could finally swim. 5 months to get the heater, install and hook up to gas. **** offered only excuse after excuse.Now the pool is swimmable, the patio exists, etc. but the quality is abysmal. There has been no mention of inspection, closing permits, etc. There are numerous issues that need to be remediated from poor quality materials, crew inexperience and lack of attention to detail by a good GC.Our chief complaint at this time is that our project included a line item for a 30K home addition - the outdoor bathroom. After over a year of waiting (and with the benefit of seeing the "quality" of work that Sunmar/*********************** delivers) we have requested a change order to cancel this portion of the project (which was never started) and refund the monies associated with the line item. We've requested this change order for over two months in email, texts and phone calls. **** has offered vague excuses about being out of the country, and needing to talk to a lawyer. He has promised that he's not walking away with anyone's money, but at this point, that is exactly what he is doing.
