My car was towed because of having a flat tire that I had just gotten over night. The complex doesnt allow abandoned cars or cars with issues, flats, repairs to be in a home owners drive way. They are supposed to allow you 48 hours to get the car repaired and I was not allowed any time. They immediately hooked my car up and I had to pay $100 to get it off of the tow truck which is not right. I have it on camera. CAT TOWING IS A SCAM THEY ARE LOOKING FOR QUICK MONEY AND NOT FOLLOWING THE RULES

On June 12, my properly parked car in front of my building was towed by C.A.T. Towing and Recovery in **********, *** without notice or warning. My parking permit had fallen from the mirror onto the passenger seat, and I have a photo taken immediately upon entering the vehicle at the towing lot, showing the permit plainly visible through the side window. The towing company took photos from the front and back, but not the interior, the permit was visible. No effort was made to verify residency, no communication or notification. I had no idea my vehicle had been towed, and I initially feared it had been stolen. My son even contacted the *****************************More than two hours of unanswered phone calls followed before I finally reached someone. When I did, I was told that I could retrieve my car by appointment only, with the earliest available slot at 11:00 AM (which was initially confusingly written as PM), and that I would need to bring $360 in cash. I received a brief text message with the location, the amount, and the word "cash."Unsafe Retrieval and Unprofessional Conduct The location provided was an extremely isolated lot, down a gravel road ending in a wooded area, blocked by a rusted gate with a chain and minimal signage. I waited over 30 minutes alone in this secluded place. The driver took photos of my driver's license.Calls I made during that wait were met with rudeness, and at one point, I was hung up on.When the driver finally exited the truck, I pointed out the following:The parking permit was clearly visible on the passenger seat.Personal items hanging from my rearview mirrora religious pendant, a school keepsake, and sunglasseshad been removed and tossed aside.Rather than acknowledge this, the driver accused me of being untrustworthy, refused to engage respectfully, and hesitated to provide a receipt for the $360 cash until I firmly insisted. This further delayed the process and added to the emotional distress.

Subject: Complaint Against C.A.T. Towing and Recovery LLC Unethical Practices and Lack of Transparency To Whom It May Concern,I am filing a formal complaint against C.A.T. Towing and Recovery LLC for predatory towing, excessive fees, and lack of transparency.1. Unjustified Towing:My first vehicle, totaled and awaiting pickup by my insurance company, was towed without notification, despite having a valid parking sticker and being in the correct spot. My second vehicle was also towed because the parking pass was not in the correct place, despite being parked properly. I was charged $360 to retrieve this vehicle, which I believe is excessive.2. Cash-************************ only accepts cash payments, a policy not disclosed on their signage or website. This lack of transparency places unnecessary burdens on customers.3. No Receipt Provided:I was promised a digital receipt for my payment, but I never received one despite repeated requests.4. Unreachable ******************* lists only one phone number, which is rarely answered. I had to call over 100 times from a different number to get through. They also require appointments to retrieve vehicles, contrary to their claim of being open 24 hours.5. Pattern of ******************************** is known to tow vehicles that are legally parked without valid cause. Residents believe this is an ongoing issue designed to exploit consumers.6. Potential Collusion with Apartment Management:I suspect my apartment management is profiting from these unjustified tows, as many residents report similar issues, and management fails to address complaints.Resolution Requested:Refund of my $360 towing fee.Investigation into their predatory practices, cash-only policy, and potential collusion with property management. This companys actions are harmful, unethical, and exploitative. I urge the BBB to investigate and take action to protect consumers.

CAT towing removed my car from property at ******************************************************************************* without my permission saying it was illegally parked. This happened on 8/6/24. I thought the car had been stolen. No one contacted me that the vehicle was towed. I filed a temporary police report online. Then the guy at the home of 1701 ***** said the car may have been towed. Called the property manager office and they gave me the contact information for the tow company. I called them and they stated it cost $400 cash to get my car back. I met the tow guy and he charged $450 and refused to give me a receipt. That is so illegal. Why can't I have a paper receipt. The tow guy also caused damage to my vehicle. I have tried to contact the own but all calls go to ************. The guy lied about his name. He said he is *****. But others say he is *****. There are predatory tow laws that will not allow price gouging. Any business should provide a receipt for services rendered. If an area has tow away then there must be visible signs. This tow company behaves as a repo man coming to take your car. And how can they set one price to recover your property and then increase it when you show up to get your car? How can they scratch your car and then say they are not liable? There are many complaints about this unprofessional business.
