    11/17/2022. I had made a doctor appointment 1 month ago. I filled out paperwork in order to get my records sent from another doctor. They called me on 11/14/2022 to confirm my upcoming appointment. I drove to Greenville this am, went to front desk to check in. woman behind desk says someone should have called to tell me that there is a $350 co-pay for first visit. I explained with my insurance I don't have a copay. The receptionist then changed it and said it wasn't a copay, but I hadn't met my deductible. I explained that I could not give her $350 today. I told her I was leaving, and she asked if I wanted to reschedule. I went to my truck and called my insurance company. BCBS of TN told me that I was correct that there was no copay, and my family deductible had already been met. So, I re-enter the office with the insurance agent on my cell phone. I ask the receptionist what that $350 was for again, she says deductible. I say the deductible has already been met. She is on the phone with "billing", she then states that "we don't go by family we go by individual" so my insurance agent says that shouldn't matter as it is a family plan, but you only have $148 left as an individual. they then change it again and say it's for out-of-pocket expenses. I did not pay the $350. And I did not see the doctor. How is it possible for this company to talk to me about MY insurance when I literally just gave them the card this am to scan in? Why are they charging $350 and didn't have a legitimate reason to charge me? How is this legal? I want to file a complaint against the business but do not want to see them. There was a lot of elderly people in the waiting room who may not ask questions, seem like this business is stealing money from consumers.
