  BBB promotes truth in advertising by contacting advertisers whose claims conflict with the BBB Code of Advertising. These claims may come to our attention from our internal review of advertising, consumer complaints and competitor challenges. BBB asks advertisers to prove their claims, change ads to make offers clearer to consumers, and remove misleading or deceptive statements.

   On April 4, 2022, Better Business Bureau of Central and Northwest NC contacted the business regarding advertisements on their website, website, https://www.garagedoorservice.com/greensboro/, and yellow pages ads included in “The Real Yellow Pages” Winston Salem 2022, stating:

  • Will Meet or Beat ANY Competitor’s Quote
  • Best Prices
  • Best Guarantee.

   

  Basic Principles of the Code requires that advertisers should be prepared to substantiate any objective claims or offers made before publication or broadcast. Upon request, they should present such substantiation promptly to the advertising medium or BBB.

  Lowest Prices, Underselling claims - Despite an advertiser's best efforts to ascertain competitive prices, the rapidity with which prices fluctuate and the difficulty of determining prices of all sellers at all times preclude an absolute knowledge of the truth of unqualified underselling/lowest price claims.

  Warranties or Guarantees  - When using the term "warranty" or "guarantee" in product advertising, the advertiser must clearly and conspicuously include a statement that the complete details of the warranty can be seen prior to sale at the advertiser's location, viewed on the advertiser's website or, in the case of mail or telephone order sales, made available free on written request.

  As of April 28, 2022, BBB has not received a response from the business. The business has failed to substantiate, modify, or discontinue any of the advertised claims brought to its attention.
