A sales person came to my house and sold me on their product I was told that the price of the product was $2700 that I could finance through them. She called someone I thought was their actual company but was not. I thought I was paying off the $2700 until I recently checked my credit report because I missed a payment. when I check my credit account im charged for $5594. If I knew it was going to be well over $5000 I would have never purchased the item. You could only buy the product they make it seem from a door salesman then try and get you to join them in selling the product by telling you they will pay for your machine. pyramid scheme all the way!

I'm very sorry to hear that ****************** is upset.  I'm not sure how there is a misunderstanding.  When a customer sees a demo, the price is printed in the demo book.  During July 2023, the Rainbow sold for $3498.90 plus tax.  No where in the book does it state $2700.  Also, when a customer finances the ********************** there is additional finance charges added by the lending bank.  The process of financing the Rainbow is after approved, the customer docu-signs a sales contract that plainly states the sale price and the sales tax and the interest amount.  To make sure that there is no misunderstanding, the customer is required to speak to the bank on the phone to verify they understand the terms of the agreement.

Again, I don't know how there could be a misunderstanding.  If there is anything that we can do to help we certainly will.

Again, I don't know how there could possibly a misunderstanding on the price or finance charges when they are clearly stated on the contract that the customer signed.  The customer received a copy of the contract they signed thru email after signing.

I was told that If I did a 12 appointment with 12 friends to do a vacuum demonstration and sold 2 of the vacuums they would of give me a check for $3400 and all I would have to pay was the taxes and no intrest for 6 months while I did the program. In 1 month I have done 14 appointments and have sold 4 vacuums and they keep telling me that my appointments dont meet the requirements thing that they never told me from the beginning. I have so far met the requirements and they have not sent me a check til this day. They told me that I have to reschedule 8 appointments because they dont met the requirements that they never mentioned anything about that to me from the beginning. To me this is a fraud they tell you to sale their vacuums and at the end dont give you any money to you for selling their products. Im getting charged for interest and the rate is super high and I wasnt supposed to pay anything until 6 months.

I am very sorry that this customer is upset and will reach out to them.  When someone buys a Rainbow the terms of the purchase are clearly disclosed on the sales contract that they sign.  The price, finance charges and total after all payments have been made as well as the 3 day right to cancel are all on this document.  If there was supposed to be a no interest option it would also have been on the document.  Everything that the customer agrees to is on this contract that they sign.  We encourage all customers to carefully look over the contract before signing it.  As for the 12/2 program, each customer is required to come to a meeting in our office to learn all of the rules of the program and if they agree with these rules they can decide to sign up to participate.  These rules require the 12 people to be CEO's (Couples, Employed and Owns their own home).  The 12/2 program has no bearing on the purchase of the Rainbow in the customers' home.  Whether a customer decides to do the program or not, they must still honor the terms of their purchase.

I am rejecting this response because:
In one sense they are right that we should be careful that we sign, but I think that they are promoting a very good product that they should train their salespeople so that what they promise and say regarding the program agrees with what is signed as they are explaining it right now. In his response to my complaint, he explained to the client at the time that the client has to sign, the seller shows that we only have to complete 12 appointments without explaining the requirements and that is when it becomes fraud but the problem is that they are disqualifying quotes that do qualify, the last two have those requirements and they were disqualified for me, I have to finish the program but this has really been overwhelmingly frustrating for me because I think that if the program were explained as it is, very few people would end up involved in this business and I also mention again that I have made 14 appointments of which four have been sold machines and not only two were required to be sold so that I could get my check, the last thing I need is to do the demonstration alone but they don't allow me because I need to make more appointments to cover the ones that have disqualified me

The beauty shop owner at ************************* ************************************************************** where I was getting my hair done, asked me if she could do a demonstration in my apartment to show me a vacuum system which is called the Rainbow. I asked her what was the catch. The owner stated none, I just need to have her come to do the demonstration and sign off that she did it so she can get the credit toward purchasing her vacuum system. I said ok. After she completed the demonstration she pulled out a small computer pad and said I had to sign off on it showing she showed the system. While I was signing off I was reading the pages and I said to her. This is an application to get financed to purchase this Rainbow. and I can't afford to buy this system. She said don't worry it is just protocol. She said once the paperwork gets submitted I will get a phone call from the finance company just say Yes and I will help you sell the system in no time. I told her I was new to the area and I didn't know anyone to sell this to. I kept calling the lady and she never answered my phone calls. I went to the Rainbow office at ******************************* to explain what had happened to me with one of their salespeople. They said once I sign it was nothing for them to do. They gave me a couple of flyers to make copies of to put out and try to sell the Rainbow and gave me 30 days so I wouldn't have to pay for the Rainbow. I made 200 copies of those flyers and put them out in my neighborhood. Not one person called me about the Rainbow. I called the *************** to explain what had happened to me and they said it was up to Johnson **************** to call them and make them hole. I ADVISED EVERY SINGLE HUMAN IN ************** AND ************** TO KEEP THESE PEOPLE OUT OF YOUR APARTMENTS AND HOME!!!

    Business Response

    Date: 02/09/2024

When a customer purchases and finances a **********************, the customer must provide their social security number and other private information to get approved for financing.  After filling out the application for credit, the customers that are approved by the finance company must sign the sales contract.  This document explains the terms of the purchase.  The monthly payments and finance charges are all listed.  Also the contract states that the customer has 3 business days to cancel the transaction.  After signing the sales contract all customers must speak to the finance company on a recorded line in order for the lender to verify the customer's identity and make sure they understand the terms of the contract.

All of this is so that there are no misunderstandings or identity fraud.  Once a customer finances the product and the 3 business days have past and the customer has not cancelled the transaction, the loan is final.  Any inquires into the status of this loan are to be made to the finance company.  We only take care of warranty claims on the product after that.

I am rejecting this response because:

The sales women that came into my apartment for the demonstration advised me that she is very aware of how financing works, and that we me and her had three days to get three demonstrations so I didn't have to pay for the Rainbow machine. I asked the sales women what will happen if we don't get three demonstrations in three business days. She said as long as we get it in 30 days and she was going to help me with advertising so my Rainbow would be paid for. I called the sales person on a regular looking for her help. No response. I drove to Johnson Distributors to inform them what one of their sales person did to me. sticking me with this financing so she can hurry up and get her three demonstrations done so she can get her Rainbow paid for. She lied to me and disappeared!! I did what Johnson Distributors *** Sales Person advised me to do. I was FRAUDED BY ONE OF Johnson Distributors Inc. Sales Person and this company should be held accountable for when one of their sale people come into consumers homes and take advantage of the public!! Johnson Distributors don't care as long as they get that financing money, and people like me have to eat up all of the wrong that is done to us by their Sales Personnel!!

All of us at Johnson Distributors Inc. pride ourselves on honesty and integrity.  We would never teach or allow any of our independent salespeople to be misleading or misrepresent the product.  Based on this customer's words, she knowingly signed the contract to purchase the Rainbow.  There is no program where a customer does 3 demos and gets the ********************** Free.  If we can help in any way we will be more than glad to do so.

I purchased a Rainbow vacuum cleaner a few months ago and was told if I get twelve other people to listen to a sales pitch and two purchase the cleaner I would get mine for free. I later found out I have to do one additional sales demonstration by myself. I also checked my credit report and saw that I have the price of the vacuum and the interest already on my report. In total the price of this vacuum is well over $5,000. As I completed my first six demonstrations with a sales representative from Rainbow I felt as if I worked for the company when I was asked to give testimony about the product. I also did not agree with the sales pressure associated with each demonstration. In most cases it felt as if the representative was under pressure (and not totally honest) to make a sale and not just demonstration a product "that benefits the consumer because it cleans the air and vacuums using water and not an air filter." I want to warn other consumers before buying Rainbow that it is not the product that the company says it is.

When a customer finances a ********************** they must sign a "sales contract" which discloses all the terms of the purchase including the finance charges.  The 3-business day cancellation period is also explained on the contract.  After a customer reviews and signs the sales contract, they must call the finance company from their personal phone.  These calls are recorded and the customer verifies that they understand the terms of the contract.  The purpose of this is to verify the customers identity and to insure that they know the finance terms clearly.

All of our sales people are trained to never be dishonest or pushy during a demonstration.  They are trained to do their best to help a customer purchase if the customer wants the **********************.  The Rainbow is truly an amazing product and our owners love and use their machines for many many years.

If we can assist in any way please feel free to call us at ************

I am rejecting this response because:
Johnson Distributors Inc. has given a response that is clearly one that is used to cover their unethical sales tactics for an overpriced product and appease the Better Business Bureau. I have spoken to others who have worked for or purchased the Rainbow product and have heard of sales tactics that are unethical as well as the burden of making payments for an item that the customer was mislead on during the sales pitch on what the product does or can do. Rainbow has used these unethical sales tactics for years, and there have been complaints from others but to date nothing has been done to stop them. The product does NOT do all that is told to perspective buyers. For example, during the sales pitch the consumer is told that the unit can run all day and clean the air as well as the home from dust particles. From my experience as well as others that I know purchased the item, the air around it will have the scent of the essential oil while the machine is running on high.In addition, there is little to no dust particles in the container that holds water after the machine runs all day.
I did not expect a favorable outcome using this route but will continue to seek legal advice about next steps to meet my satisfaction. This is only a step in the process to remedy the problem and inform others of failed promises and contractual misleading by a corrupt business.

    Business Response

The Rainbow is a vacuum that is also a certified air purifier.  The machine has been tested by AHAM (*************************).  Also it is certified by the Asthma ********************** of America (*******************************************************************************************************).

The Rainbow can run on low or any speed and it cleans and purifies the air.  During the demonstration we use a very bright spotlight to see the dust particles in the water.  The water can look clean without a light, but the Rainbow is filtering the air using the water and the **** filter.

It is possible that this customer's machine should be looked at for service.  It has a 4 year warranty on the parts and 10 year warranty on the motor.  We will gladly check her Rainbow if she will bring in to the office.

I had a demo in my home and loved the product. Decided to make the purchase based on the information and education of the sales person. I started the program to get my product free but was ok with paying half price after completing 6 demos. After contacting the company I am being told since I didn't complete the entire program I am owed nothing. I have been told numerous lies by this company and contradictory information from different sales people. When I had my demo I was told I would get 4 free attachments after completing 6 demos. Then I was told after completion I would only get 3 because that was a previous promo. I was told by numerous sales people that I would at least get half the purchase price back if I did the 6 demos but was t able to complete the program. I was also told by the manager that he has never had anyone NOT finish the program successfully and I know that to be a lie as well. I have also been told by another sales person I should have said no to the purchase the 1st time because I would have received a much better APR. I called the finance company to request my APR be lowered and they stated they cannot. I love the product but it is not worth the amount they now saw I owe. If I was properly educated I would have paid cash for my product but I went based off the sales persons recommendation and am now being told that was false information.

I made this agreement on 7/15 when a sales representative came to my home. I was told by purchasing that day I could get the vacuum for **** plus tax and do 13 presentations one which I would do myself. Then I would receive a check to pay off the vacuum if I made 2 sales and completed all presentations. Upon calling to make my first payment on 8/14/23 I realized I had been financed for over ***** and only had til 8/15/23 to pay off. They also said you can contact Rainbow to have them change the way your loan was submitted and give me zero interest same as cash in 6 months. I did this and Rainbow manager told me they dont know why finance company told me that because they cannot do that, also that I would have to pay the **** plus tax which was over **** in full on that date. I told him I could not do that and I requested the representative to pick up the rainbow or send me a return label. Neither did they do and the manager was rude telling me about 3 day contract and threatening me because I was pointing out clear facts. I have never made a payment and Im not due to this agreement being made on false presentations and submitting a loan for a 30 day same as cash loan instead of 6 months per agreement. On this day 8/15/23 I sent the vacuum back and was told by *** that several others have returned this equipment and Rainbow just sends it back. This is fraud. Stay away from this company. Also my credit is not bad and no way I should have received 19% inters test rate. I would have never agreed to pay over **** in 30 days.

    Business Response

I'm sorry to hear that this customer is upset.  Every customer who finances the ********************** signs a legal, binding contract that states all of the terms of the agreement.  This agreememt clearly states the finance terms including all finance charges and any same as cash options.

If I can be of any further assistance please reach out.

    Customer Answer

    Date: 08/16/2023

I am rejecting this response because:
My contract does not state a 30 days same as cash anywhere. Also they tell you not to create online account for 7 days which actually I never created until the day I was going to make my first payment. Even if I had of waited only 7 days the 3 day contract would have been up. This contract is generic with falsified information and needs to be voided. Many deficiencies, I have several other contracts over the last 5 years which all have your same as cash payoff date and the amount after the date has expired. This company is committing fraud. No way my credit score should have made me receive a ***** interest rate. Thats crazy!!! Also notice the payment is set with interest anlready included. Not to mention how would I do 13 presentations in 30 days when I work full time. Also contract says that the *** option would be written in payment plan and its NOT. Where it should have been written is blank. I will not let them get away with this. I have worked too hard on my credit to let a scammer ruin it. The 30 day *** option is only on the online account which I never saw until the 14th and thats when I was told by finance company that my sales rep could change it and re-submit. Which ******* says they dont know why they said that as I said before 2 different reps from finance company told me this. I had not made a payment yet it definitely could have been done. Not to mention I had 5 presentations scheduled all after the 30 days. Why would I even bother if it wasnt going to matter ??? And why did they never say this? Contract states 3 months or 6 months should be written and its not. I have pics of my bookings and the presentation I completed. In which the person purchased and I had her cancel her purchase once I realized this was fraudulent. She was given the same exact interest rate and her credit is very good with a different finance company.

I purchased a rainbow from this company. The demonstrator came out to my home and presented to me an air purifier. He stated that If I performed 6 demos in the first 45 days of having the product, and sold at least 2 that I would receive a check for half of the money owed on it. However, if I completed 12 demos in 6 months, I would receive a check for the total amount. I completed my 6 in 45 days and I sold 3 of them. I decided that I didnt have the time to keep going so I was ok with receiving just half to out towards the purchase. When I reached out to the office several times, no one would respond to me. Finally I was able to get someone on the line, for them to tell me that you only qualify for half if you finish in 45 days. You can only get a check for the full amount if you finish all 12. I proceeded to let them know that it was told to me and a few of my friends that I referred ti them, differently. Their response was well thats not how it works, sorry. I also discovered that during the demo, they are supposed to let us know that we have 3 days to change our mind and return the product with no penalty and no charge. They never told me or any of my friends this information. And when we called to complain about it they brushed us off and said sorry they didnt tell you. This company does not operate on integrity. They lie, take your money and then ignore you and brush you off. I have the product and I am in no way trying to return it. Nor am I trying ti get a full refund. However, I am seeking a check for half as I was promised in the demonstration. This should be in the amount of $1600 or around that. This item cost over $3000 and I am paying $99 a month. I should not have to pay the full price being as though I worked hard to do as they told me to within the first 45 days. They will not listen nor will they explain anything because they know that they are in the wrong. They just say it doesnt work that way, sorry. So dismissive

    Business Response

All of our customers have to attend an open house meeting at the Rainbow office in order to do the program.  The purpose of this meeting is to thoroughly explain the rules and guidelines.  In this meeting it is explained that in order to receive a check the new dealer must complete 12 shows within 6 months with at least 2 sales and then do a solo demo.  If the first 6 demos are done within first 45 days the check is $3183.90 but if not it is half.  Also, the new dealers must sign and agree to the rules and guidelines.  This agreement is then emailed to each new dealer signing up.  Everything is in writing and we are very transparent.

    Customer Answer

    Date: 07/31/2023

I am rejecting this response because:
You are required to attend the meeting AFTER you agree to purchase the product. That means that I am attending the meeting AFTER the dealer never mentioned I have 3 days to decide I dont want the Product. After the dealer tells me that if I complete 6 of my demos within 45 days, then the check is half or of I complete 12 in 6 months, then its the full amount. There is NO transparency in the demo AT ALL! I even asked my demo person to break it down about how I could be eligible for a check because I never wanted to be a dealer. They specifically said well yes, you can do the first 6, and get your check for half and go about your business. Once again, I never heard anything about being able to cancel in 3 days. This is very important information as it gives me a choice in the matter if I decide a few days later that I dont want it. They SPECIFICALLY stated that you can get a check for half of you finish the first 6 in 45 days. The way is stated i. This response is NOT the at its explained in the demo OR the class for that matter. And further more, sometimes the class is weeks after the demo. This is horrible customer service and withholding information in the attempt to gain a sale is unethical

On 6-21-22, we purchased a Rainbow SRX system and financed the system with ********************. On 07-08-22 we paid for our system in full. On 07-01-22, We were asked if we would Co sign for friends that wanted to purchase the $3398.81 system but had credit issues. We agreed to Co Sign for them with ***************. Later, we discovered the system had been placed in our names. When the friends stopped paying for the system, we had to assumed payments and found out the system did not even have their names on the account. We spoke to *** Johnson , owner, he advised us to pick up the system and we did that. Only to find that we now have a second $3380 vacuum system, because Johnson Distributors refuse to take the system back.We think Johnson Distributors defrauded us by putting this second vacuum in our names. This is not CoSigning. We believe this is illegal and we would like to recover our $3398. monies and give this second vacuum back to Johnson. We do not need a second system and we are seniors on fixed income.

Every customer that buys a ********************** and finances it thru a finance company must sign a sales contract.  The contract that was signed would have only had one person's name on it.  If it were a joint account it would have had both names on it.  This customer obviously knew that it was only in their name because their name was the only name on the document.  Also, this customer had to speak on the phone to the finance company at the time that they signed.  This call helps to avoid misunderstandings.  We cannot take back a Rainbow that was sold almost a year ago.

I am rejecting this response because this Rainbow was purchased by ******** and ***************************.  Johnson Distributors submitted an application to *************** in our names not ******** and *************************** names.  We were asked if we would CO SIGN.  We did not agree to having account in our names.
This is all one big fraud and we will not accept this fraudulent account of untrue facts.

We do not mislead our customers or conduct any illegal business.  This customer signed a legal binding contract that was just in their name.  They then spoke to the finance company who verified the terms of the agreement.  There is really nothing that we can do to help this customer.

Im reaching about a machine I purchased. I signed up to do program and was granted to get my check once I completed program. I did 9 demos sold 2 within 45 days. I was left with 3 that completed last week. I reached out to the office they said my deadline was January 8th, which I was unaware of that. I told them I got no reminders or anything. Ive been hospitalized due to medical issues. They all told me to complete the program that I did. I also spoke to the owner *** he gave me the run around as well. He said continue out Ill see what I can do and get your rainbow bucks as well. I told him my situation as well. *** got back with me on today which is Thursday saying due to you finishing up a week later I cant get your check. Theres no extension just because you were sick either. I was in total shock! The contract didnt state any of that. I completed the program and got stuck with a bill. This medical was unexpected. Like I told *** nor did yall call me with reminders. He said Ill have to start program over or be a dealer. Thats unfair!! I sold 3 of their machines done all 12 for nothing.

This customer is important to us as are all of our customers.  The customer needed to get 12 shows completed within 180 days, have at least 2 people purchase.  Also, she needed to get at least her first 6 done within the first 45 days in order to receive a check for $3,183.90.  She received a copy of this agreement at the time she signed it.  This agreement emphasizes the deadline of 1-8-23.  Her program started when she signed up on 7-12-22 and ended on 1-8-23.  She only completed 9 shows before her time expired.  *********** unfortunately offers no extensions to the 12 shows in 180 days.  *********** view is that 180 days is plenty of time for almost anyone to complete the program.  This customer completed her 9th show on ****** and never did any more shows before her program expired on 1-8-23.  That is 3 months with no shows being done.  If I can assist her in any way I will be more than glad.

I am rejecting this response because:
Not one time did they send me a follow up reminder that my time was coming to an end. I clearly told *** along with his other staff I was dealing with health issues. *** on the other hand just like the rest told me to complete my program, and he will get me squared away with my check. *** gave me the runaround all the way up until Thursday. Not one time the contract said youll be forfeited with any kind of illness. I told *** due to my illness and them not sending reminders I feel Im still entitled to my check to pay my machine off. If thats the case Ill return the machine and they need to have it removed from my credit. They ripped my off! If yall are unable to help me Ill seek an attorney. This is unacceptable especially when I finished my last 3 the week after. Once again *** staff didnt tell me my time expired until I done my last 3 and another sale.

I have reached back out to this customer and did my best to explain that she did not complete the program during the 6 months as the agreement states.  I don't think that we at Johnson Distributors *** are going to be able to help this customer.
