Towed my 2002 F150 to the mechanic to have them fix and issue with the truck staying running. They informed me that the vehicle needed a wiring harness. I agreed to the repair which cost me more than $600. They installed the harness and informed my to pick up the truck. I paid the bill in full. I started the truck but the truck was running so bad that it was unable to leave the shop’s parking lot. My never ran this bad. I existed the vehicle, went back into the shop and informed them that the truck is not drivable. They ask for me keys back and they informed they will have someone look at the truck again. Days later, I received a call informing that the truck needs a ECU. I denied the repair and informed them that I will have the truck towed from their lot. Upon entering the shop , I was told that I needed to pay another $130 fee for the diagnostic. I refused to that because they should have performed a diagnostic before they installed the wiring harness. Also - I did a little google research and found out an incorrectly installed wiring harness can damage the ECU. When I asked them why they didn’t tell me before that the truck needed an ECU , I was informed that the first diagnostic did not show an ECU error. It only showed on the second diagnostic which leads me to believe that caused the bad ECU when they installed the wiring harness. They are refusing to return my vehicle until I pay the $130 for the diagnostic fee which I believe to be unfair since they caused the bad ECU.
