5/16/24 boss buildings installed a 30'x40' garage, the roof has a sag from top to bottom and the front wall bows out 4". they scheduled an appointment on 7/10/ 24 but didn't show or call, rescheduled on 8/20/24 once again no show and no call. I have called several times and sent many pictures through email and text to get my garage repaired. I would like to have the garage taken down and reimbursed the $7,782.90 I have paid but would settle for the repairs. I still owe $4,816.26 and don't want to pay the balance until it is repaired.Thank you,**** ****Business Response

NC Carports and Garages came out and installed a building I had purchased from them for $20,000. When the crew began the installation they did not start at the correct spot and the only way to correct the frame would have been to tear down the entire building and start over however it was already anchored to the concrete so there was a great chance the concrete would crack and they said they were not responsible for the cracking in the concrete if it occurred. There is a gap permanently now where water and wildlife could get into the building since it was built incorrectly. The flashing was left off on one side of the roof so it was leaking into the building. When the next crew came out to fix the roof they pushed it in from the top of the roof which wrinkled and pushed the insulation down. They also did not put all of it on there as pictured in the attachments. Every time they told me they were fixing a mistake it made something else worse. They said they would give me $800 off. $800 off of a $20,000 building was a huge insult. The office staff was extremely rude and disrespectful. The crews left beer bottles around the sight. Three different crews were sent out fix the problems and none of them did. I am left with a $20,000 building with gaps and places in the roof. Light should not be shining through at any place in the roof. This has been one of the worst experiences I have ever had with a company. The fact that they show they are BBB accredited should be a huge concern to you all as this is anything but a respectable company.Business Response

May 20, 2024 I contracted a building to be built at my residence at the time of the contract I was told they were only 2-4 weeks out. As soon as we got concrete we were supposed to notify them. I had dates for the contractors to come in and pour the concrete I wanted to schedule it at that point but I was told I had to wait until I had concrete because I was told it does not take long to build the building. When all was said and done I sent pictures of the concrete done on July 24, 2024 and I was told at that point that it was going to be 6-8 weeks which they knew was going to be unacceptable so I talked to the sales person who said he got a hold of somebody in scheduling and they would get a hold of me with a much sooner date. I have contacted them each week since that date, and I am told that the scheduling manager was working on it. And now we are past that point where they should be putting the building in and when I called them, they now told me it could be up to 12 weeks, and they would call me 2 weeks in advance. They even went so far as to try to blame it on the hurricane that went by in early ****** saying it effected all of their states that they work in. Clearly this is a fabricated excuse for another delay because last week I was still told by the salesman that they would have a much closer date for me. I have all supporting text and communication with them but there is not enough space to list in this communication. After reading all the complaints here on the BBB that seems to be a large problem with this company. All I want it my building scheduled and put in. It has NOT been a smooth transaction since May 20, 2024.Customer Answer

I am rejecting this response because: Although they have scheduled this for the week of the 14th they still have not installed the building yet or shown up on the property yet because that date has not arrived I cannot say that it is satisfied at this point until they show up to put the building in I don't think the better business bureau should be asking me to close it before they even show up I will be more than happy to give a full response after they have showed up whether I'm satisfied or notInitial Complaint

On June 4th Crystal text me asking if my site was ready. I said not till next week and she said to send site pictures and the leads time was 4 weeks. On June 14th 2024 I sent site pictures as required. On Monday the 17th she acknowledged that they were received so I asked for a date and she said it was 6 weeks. On July 10th I had not heard anything so I contacted my sales person who said the company had not received site pictures yet. I forwarded the proof that ******* acknowledged receiving them. Then I was placed on the schedule for Tuesday July 30th. No one called or anything until I text *******, when she said there was an equipment issue and they would not be coming out till Saturday August 3rd. No a single call so I text the instal crew and they said they had another equipment failure and would not be showing up till 7pm. They got here and I had to take them to a hotel after working for an hour. Crew said they would be here at 7am on Sunday the 4th, and when they didn't show up I text again and he stated they would be there around 9am. They show up after 9am and get some of the shell put up then said due to rain they were stopping and coming back Friday August 9th. It never rained! Again I had to text the crew and they said they had to finish another job first, and would be here Saturday August 10th. I just text the crew again and they said they were in an accident and would be here Monday August 12th. This is ridiculous! I do not see how this company stays in business with all the same complaints about the same equipment issues. They had 2 jobs on one trailer and when they decided to leave they unloaded someone else's building and left it here on my property Due to the incompetence and flat out dishonesty, We have lost over $5000 in household goods storage fees. Not to mention at the last minuet I was told I needed to rent a lift for a week in case of delays. That was over $2000 for a week even though they only used it for less than 1.5 hoursCustomer Answer

****** *********,
Unfortunately they are independent contractors due to travel and construction delays . These trucks work very hard hauling buildings across many states and need to be serviced regularly; however sometimes other issues may occur due to wear and are unexpected causing delays. The lift is on the contract and we have to make sure the crews have it due to the height of the building. If the crew decides not to use it there is nothing we can do. The contract was signed by the customer from the beginning when he placed the order and states the lift is required in the itemized section.

Purchase a metal carport from NC Carports and Garages LLC (30 wide by 60 long with 12 sides, 1 man door, 3 windows, and 3 garage doors). I paid the company when the building was installed even though two of the garage doors that were installed were not the correct sizes; garage door size is 10x10, two of the doors installed are 10x8.Building was installed June 7 *************************************************************************************** two weeks. Two months have gone by with no updates on the garage doors will be replaced, I have called every week for a schedule and have been told every week that there isnt a schedule and there is nothing they can do. I asked to be compensated for the time that my building scheduled has been pushed back because of this and was not given a response. All of this unacceptable and I do not what else to do since I already paid the full amount and do not have a complete building.Customer Answer

I am rejecting this response because:
Not being reimbursed or given a discount because not their mistake is not acceptable. Their mishandling of the order caused delays in my project and I wasn’t able to use the building for months and had to hound them for a timeframe on getting the door replaced. I paid the full price even when the building wasn’t complete, I guess I should have held my money back.Initial Complaint

Garage is NOT completed, garage doors have not been installed. We have heard nothing from this company on how they plan to finish our garage. They will not respond with a solution to this problem.Customer Answer

I have not heard from the business in response to my complaint.
As mentioned in my earlier voice mail, I received a brief message from ******** (?) on July 8th. She stated roughly that they were looking into it. Nothing in detail and no timeline was mentioned as the comments were the standard issue, vague and short. I received no further contact. On July 12th, i called ******* who works under ******** (supposedly) and handles the scheduling for the state of ********. I had corresponded previously with ******* during the work up to get the initial installation scheduled. During the call on the 12th, ******* put me on hold and stated that she had just spoken to ****** who is apparently handling this situation with the garage doors. She stated to me that they were to hear from the garage door manufacturer that day and that ****** would give me a call later or first thing Monday. Today is the 17th and we've heard nothing. In short, they incorrectly installed the building by not noticing that incorrect material had been delivered for my order and due to their negligence then by cutting the front wall studs ~8-12" short thereby not allowing the needed space to install the two cannister doors. It is believed that the fix would be to dismantle the entire building or to completely remove the roof along with the trusses and begin all over to fix. This i believe is why they are dragging their feet. In my opinion they know they have goofed big time and will spend gobs of time and money to remedy their mistake. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks,

My wife and I signed a contract for a $50,000 building on December 21, 2023 at exactly 10:50 pm. I called our salesman ******* on January 16th, 2024 requesting a refund. He said no. He said we would need a denial letter from our county's building department to get our money back, but it clearly states in the contract, their company's contract that they wrote, that we can have a refund if we request one within 15 business days. According to the Code of Federal Regulations federal holidays and weekends are NOT business days. The Code of Federal Regulations also states any contract signed after 5 pm Eastern cannot be counted as a business day, but that the following day would be the first business day of that contract. I have called many times and spoken with ******* and *******, the *** about this. They say I made my request for a refund on January 19th, 2024. I have a screenshot of my call on the 16th, witnesses to that call and texts showing I asked for a refund on that day. Even using the 19th as the day, that still complies with their 15 day clause in their contract. I have an email from *******, the *** saying according to them it was 15 days and they are still saying no. After holding my money hostage, they sent me half my money back and said I agreed to that. The offer was half or nothing I am guessing, so I chose half. But I want all my money. *******, the salesman who said I didn't ask for the refund on the 16th, is clearly a liar. The owner will not speak to me. I have asked if he would. No response. So in summary, I have proof I called, call and texts, along with witnesses to this call and half is what they offered. They are basically calling me, my wife and two of my daughters liars, along with disregarding the call and texts that prove I called about the refund. They are a shady company at best. I would never recommend anyone do business with them. It is sad that some businesses seem to thrive on ill gotten gains.Customer Answer
Date: 03/11/2024
As you can see in the contract where I put the stars, the ************* the contract was signed. The 15 day clause also has stars beside it.
Boss buildings was closed the week of Christmas so those days, by Boss's own admission, don't count as business days. So you have December 21, January 2,3,4,58,9,10,11,16. That's 11 business days. Even if you use the phantom day of January 19th like they are saying, that's only 14 days.
I also have screenshots of the call I made on January 16th and talked for 7 minutes and screenshots of texts right after that call ended the coincide with that call. These were to my wife saying ******* said we could not have a refund unless the county denied our building permit.
I also have an email from ******* the General manager where he states it was 15 days to them.Business Response

Good Afternoon **************,
We believe that the refund we gave was more than fair. I am attaching some key points in our contract that back up why we believe it is fair. The colored doors amount to a total of $5,121 after removing the frame out we do in house. The contract states that color doors are non refundable due to us ordering them specifically for each custom order. The refund the customer received was a total of $3,555.74 which is $1,565.26 more than the $1,990.48 that he should have received. The portion of the contract the customer has highlighted is in regards to the seller which would be ** Carports.Customer Answer
Date: 03/12/2024
I am rejecting this response because:Their response is a lie. The contract does state that colored doors that are custom ordered cannot be refunded. I do not dispute that. My dispute is that I requested a refund that meets their 15 day clause. The clause I put stars beside on my pdf and said to look at. The did not order any material for me. I made it clear when I made the deposit not to order anything. Also, I guarantee you they do not have an email to me, a text to me or a conversation with me on their recorded calls that ever says they ordered a door or multiple doors for me. It stands to reason that the very first time I requested a refund they would have brought this up, but they didn't and that is because they didn't order any doors for me. I had at least two conversations with ******* and he never mentioned they had already ordered doors. I had at least 4 different conversations with *******, the *** and he also never mentioned that they ordered custom doors for me already. He stuck to the reason for no refund was that I had waited too long. I also have an email from ******* where he very clearly mentions the timeframe and very clearly DOES NOT mention doors or custom doors being ordered. Also in one of the conversations I had with ******* he said they would not give me a refund, but would apply my deposit to a future building, so if they had ordered five thousand dollars worth of doors they couldn't use, were they just going to eat that loss if I ordered a building in the future? No, it's because they didn't order any doors for me. That is just something else dishonest they are doing to try and keep from giving my full refund. Also one of the conversations, I believe the first one I had with *******, on January 19th I specifically stated to him that they had not ordered any materials for my building and he did not dispute that. One would also have to question why they would give more refund than they were supposed to had they really ordered those doors and spent over $5000 on them. They wouldn't do that. When things don't add up, it's because things are incorrect. Had they actually ordered doors, that would have been the first thing out of their mouths when I called for a refund, and I would not have been able to dispute the contract because it is clearly written about custom doors. They record their calls. Tell them to produce a call that has them telling me they ordered custom doors for me. Tell them to produce any call with me and them. You will hear how they are standing on not giving me a refund because of the timeframe, with no mention of ordering doors. I will acknowledge that this dispute is very likely to not get settled to my liking if they keep being dishonest. That makes it near impossible. Hard to believe they are willing to throw their own character and the business's reputation in the gutter over this. I am the only one involved in this dispute that is being honest.Initial Complaint

I purchases a building and told the company this would have to pass inspection. They showed up Friday after no one at 430pm and left on a Sunday. They installed the door on the garage backwards after I asked for the door to be on the posit side of the building they said that wouldnt be a problem. The roll up door does and hasnt worked properly and the roof in one bay leaks water when it rains. They continue to want money but never fix the issues and the. Wanted to charge me for engineering paper work on a building they knew needed to pass inspection and engineering. The county came out and said I need engineering on the building and they sent me some kind of paper work to another building not the one I have. I have asked for the owner of the company to call me they said he did but didnt leave a message. To the day I have not heard from any one to resolve this just that they want the remaining balance and Im not willing to pay unless they fix the issues.the cost was around ***** I payed around *****. Ive encoured a lot of stress and I also had to sign a statement with the county and accepting all responsibilities on this building because I couldnt get no help. They filed it in the court system and it says I cant sell my place untill 2 years is up for the building.i dont think I was treated fair on this and need some help.Business Response

The building ** Carports built is up to code in the installed area. In our contract it states that it is the responsibility of the customer to gather the information as to what is required for permitting. *************** did not gather that information. When a building is sold it comes with generic prints which most counties accept if the county requires site specific prints they are an extra charge. ** Carports was not told about the repairs needed until yesterday and have started working on a plan to go back. We have also tried calling with no answer or call back. ** Carports also offered the site specific plans at an additional cost but customer denied.

Ordered a building to be built by N.C. Carports and garages for over $8,000 on 9/13/2023.Sent pictures of ground that the building would be put on top of as well as the permit approval on 10/9 via saved text to Adryanna. On 11/1/23 a deposit was paid for a commercial building that we planned to build. The quote states the deposit was non-refundable UNLESS the customers city/county rejects the permit. Upon paying the deposit we began applying for permits. The county came back and on the response noted "No Commercial Activity, living quarters, or sleeping quarters allows" and "NOTE:The structure shall not be used for commercial purposes". We went an email to the sales rep, Byron, relaying the information and asking for the deposit back since the permit would not be approved for commercial use. On 12/15/23 Byron responded he would forward to management to receive a refund. We emailed to follow up on 12/23/23, on 1/2/24 Byron responded he would follow up with management again. On 1/22/24 the manager Jeffrey T. indicated that he could not do a refund. We spoke again and he said did not receive this and would speak with Byron, I requested his email to send the documentation to. Because of the agreement laid out upon paying the deposit, we should be due the entire amount back due to the county not approving the building for the intended use. Wew have been waiting for over a month for refund with no resolution.Business Response
