My husband and I entered an exclusivity contract with **** ********** and his wife Tontania ********** of SturdiBouch'e Group, LLC (I believe he is listed under his old LLC at the ********* ***********************************) on March 6th, 2025 to build a custom home for us at *******************************************************************************************************. We received an invoice for the amount of $34,873.25 to have the following completed: architect drawings, surveyor, builders risk policy, permit fees, new well permit, gravel driveway, and land clearing. He asked us to pay this up front, which we did on 04/08/2025 in full. Once we paid ****, we did not hear from him unless we initiated conversation regarding progress on our project, which we received false information and deadlines each time. We gave **** and Tontania a two week notice of termination on 5/17/25 as required by the exclusivity contract; however, **** would not honor that and asked for an additional week to "complete" invoice items that were in process, which we agreed too. 6/9/25 came and went with no progress on our project and none of our $25,420 that we were to be refunded had been provided. He again stated on 6/9/25 that he would initiate our refund of $25,420 by 12pm and we would have funds the same day. 11:45am on 6/10/25 we received an email with a legal Settlement Agreement, which stated that we would receive our money within 2 business days of signing the document, which we did not sign because we had no obligation to sign such a document to get our money back. There are several pending complaints and legal charges being filed against this company currently.**** has a lengthy history of this type of manipulation as evidence by several lawsuits from clients and subcontractors dating back to 2020 (in one case, he was not even licensed to be practicing as a GC). ****** behavior goes far beyond bad business practices: He intentionally lies, manipulates, and obtains money under false pretenses.

    Complainants: **** & **** ********
We respectfully dispute the complainants statements and wish to provide accurate facts with supporting documentation.
First, this complaint was filed under the wrong business. This is the only reason for our delayed response, as we were not aware it had been posted until recently.
On April 8, 2025, the complainants paid $34,873.25 toward contracted services. Upon their notice of termination, we calculated a refund of $25,420. This refund was processed and issued in full via wire transfer on June 11, 2025. We have payment records and bank confirmations showing that the refund was sent.
At one point, the complainants declined to sign our Settlement Agreement and Mutual Release of Claims, a standard industry document designed to protect both parties from further disputes. However, in good faith, we ultimately released the refund regardless, fulfilling our contractual obligation.
Any claim that we did not give them a refund is factually incorrect. The refund was issued in full, and we have verifiable proof of payment.

    Better Business Bureau:

The business did refund us; however, it was not until after this complaint was filed and after having to get our attorney involved.  The business, SturdiBouche Group LLC is the business we signed our exclusivity contract under: If he is practicing under another LLC while working with us, it was done so without our knowledge. I do know that SturdiBouche Group LLC is not tied to his General Contractors license at the ********************************

Regarding the settlement agreement: The settlement contract said that we would get our money back only after signing, which we were not going to do and had the right to refuse. I am happy to send over any documentation you need showing when we were refunded vs when this complaint was documentation, and the contract showing what LLC we were working with. If you do not need any of that information, we can close this out, because we were refunded, just not willfully.

    Thank you.
