On March 24, 2025 we suffered significant flooding from a clogged toilet. Water containing sewage flooded the upstairs bathroom, flowed down the adjacent wall and onto hardwood flooring on the first floor. We called a plumber from ******** Home Services. Upon arrival the plumber recommended Palm Build to do the remediation and promptly called them. ****** ***** with Palm Build arrived and commenced high pressure sales tactics. A second *** showed up who was identified as their private adjuster. We were pressured to hire the private adjuster to fight for us with our insurance carrier. I had to read the fine print to learn that their private adjuster takes 20% of the insurance proceeds. We rejected the private adjuster but hired Palm Build. Time was of the essence given the amount of sewage in our house and the need to mitigate damages for the insurance claim. Palm Build spent three days in the house with fans running in the interim. We were never provided with an estimate or list of costs. When we had questions, ***** became evasive . Our calls were passed to different individuals or unanswered. Palm Build billed us for $10,833.15. Our State Farm agent said these charges were excessive and fraudulent. I can provide documents, but here are some examples : $588 for the initial service call; $475 to bring fans; $444 to remove fans; $345 to move a dining room against the wall; $166 for HEPA vacuuming that was not performed; $850 to decontaminate their fans; $355 to decontaminate their truck. State Farm paid $4451. I am willing to negotiate a settlement.
