On 8/2/2024 we purchased the 2011 ****** legacy from **** at Sunset Auto We were assured that even though the car was priced below value it was due to the previous owner being a smoker and some cosmetic/interior flaws. **** assured us that his mechanic had thoroughly inspected the car and everything looked good. My kid excitedly purchased their first car! And it's been nothing but issues since. First, we acknowledge that anytime you purchase a used car there is a risk, however within 5 days of owning the car, it stalled out multiple times on the way home from work, at night, leaving the kid apprehensive to drive. My husband contacted **** who agreed to have his mechanic check out the car again. I should point out, my husband, a non-car guy, did some research and thought it could be the torque converter (a known issue with ****** with this model) and mentioned this possibility to the mechanic. After a few days, my husband called for an update and was informed that there was, in fact, an issue with the transmission, the torque converter. He offered to take care of the repairs, and since the kid was already attached to the car, we agreed. Fast forward about two weeks, and the car is finally repaired! Again, **** assured them that the car is fixed and it had been driven to make sure! My husband and kid went to pick up the car, and 20 minutes down the road, the temperature light is on!!! Obviously, it had not been much of a test drive to ensure the car was good to go. We had an appointment with ****** the next day to have a spare key made for the car, and they did a diagnostic for us.The diagnostic shows the car needs a new head gasket. The cost to fix is about what we purchased the car for. My husband contacted **** again the next morning, Friday(8/16). **** asked for some time to think through how to handle this.Called today to follow up regarding brief conversation on Friday and surprises, had to leave a voice-mail.Ideally,**** will pay for repairs.

As Customer mentioned. This was a 2011 ****** with 176k miles for $4800. It was in great running shape at time of sale. It was serviced with new alternator and fresh NC INSPECTION. Customer contacted us a few days after purchase and informed us of transmission issues. This vehicle was sold AS/IS and customer had not purchased any extended warranty.  Out of good Faith we asked if they would like to return the vehicle. At that point customer stated that their daughter is in love with the ****** and he would like us to repair it. Out of good faith we Repaired the transmission at no cost to customer. Repair bill was $2250. Vehicle had no issues after repair. The techs performed many miles of test drive before returning the vehicle to customer. Bare in mind this was a $4800 vehicle It didnt make any sense to spend $2250 on repairs. But we happily covered the bill because the customer loves his car. Few days later we got a phone call about Another issues with the ******. We asked the client to give us some time to see how much the repairs would cost. Since this was already a total loser deal. We just wanted to see how much parts and labor would cost. Also at this point the we were prepared to take this vehicle back. Customer was well aware of that. Unfortunately, This coincided with a weekend and our vacation. Upon returning to office we contacted the customer but were made aware of this complaint and a bad review on CARGURUS. We informed the client that even though the vehicle has no warranty and is sold AS/IS we would still take the ****** back. BUT this BBB complaint and CARGURU review is preventing us to be of any more help to client. At this point this vehicle was sold AS/IS. There is nothing else we can do to help this customer. We consider this mater closed

I am rejecting this response because:

While we agree it was sold As Is, we were also assured that it was in good condition.  Also, the warranty was never offered or we would have purchased it since it was a used car.The car was purchased on Friday 8/2 and we called **** the following week as the car had stalled at red lights multiple times during the few days we had the car.  Having already experienced one catastrophic failure with this car, we felt that we needed to hold this business accountable by involving the BBB, as is our right as consumers.  However when the BBB got involved, instead of being accountable the owner threw a tantrum and refused to buy the car back as had been previously agreed upon.  We did buy the car as is, and as per usual with these types of businesses, we are left to figure it out ourselves.  So we will figure it out ourselves.  We ask nothing more of this owner, as he has done enough already. We are not happy with this resolution but there is no point in pursuing this matter further, as neither side seems willing to budge.

    Hello,

Thank you for your attention to this matter. We have been in business for over 16 years. Customer satisfaction is paramount to our business and its the only reason we have been here for this long. ********************* stopped by our shop 1/10 to look at the 07 ****** Sentra. After checking out the vehicle he test drove it by himself. Customer loved the ****** and proceeded to purchased it. All of our vehicles are bought from franchise dealerships as trade in.  They get checked out by Salamancas garage(Different business entity). Any broken parts gets replaced. Then its test driven by multiple mechanics and Myself. Finally once it passes our checks and ** inspection its offered for sale. This particular vehicle was in great running shape. It gave us absolutly no indication of problems ahead. After few weeks of his purchase, *************** contacted us about car troubles. At which point we asked him to stop by the shop next door for diagnostic. Once we were made award of his transmission issues we offered to replace it at the shop and get him back on the road immediately. Even though the car is a cheap old car and it was sold AS/IS. He did not purchase any extended WARRANTY eventhoug it was offered to him. These are USED cars with lots of miles. Things break under pressure for being old. We understand this. We made the offer to fix his car right way at $2800 cost which we have to eat as a loss. ******************* stopped by here multiple times and just disappeared. Until we received this complaint which was a total surprise. If his vehicle had all these problems as he claims then why DID he purchase the vehicle. Or once he purchased then why didnt he bring it back the next day. He drove the car for a few weeks. We offered to fix it when we dont have to. I have attached all paperwork related to this deal. At this point we wont do anything to help him until he removes his negative ratings and this complaint.
