Meridian Financial Services placed 2 collection accounts on my consumer report.I dispute these collections primarily on the basis that I DO NOT have any contractual agreement with Meridian Financial Services! In accordance with my rights under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) I am requesting the official signed purchase, -or- assignment of debt agreement between the original creditor and Meridian Financial Services granting them authority to collect the alleged debt.I am not asking for any other letter, or statement! I would like the contract giving them the rights to place this collection on me! If the requested proof documents are not provided, Meridian Financial Services has no rights to collect this debt, and must cease and stop all collection actions and, cease any reporting of these accounts.Business Response

Thank you for the opportunity to respond to the concerns expressed by ************. Meridian Financial Services, Inc. received Ms.Khans accounts from our client, ********************* on September 19, 2022, for past due maintenance fees.
All qualified debts serviced by Meridian are reported to two major credit reporting agencies *********** and Experian on a monthly basis. A qualified debt is defined as either an outstanding loan debt, maintenance fees from separate years, or special assessments billed by a client. All amounts that Meridian pursues are authorized by the documents that the debtor signed to create the debt and/or state law.
Upon researching Ms. ***** claims, our client provided the attached Warranty Deeds along with all other related documents that were executed by *************************** and ******************* on May 31, 2014, and July 7, 2021, related to her purchase of the timeshare interests through *************************. I am rejecting this response because:My rights are completely violated. It is my right to request for the specific documents i asked for. Instead they send documents i did not ask for while continuing to violate the laws that protect consumers. They sent me none of what I requested which is my right by law under the ***** rules for validation of debts.
The fact that this company ignored my requests, is so disrespectful, disappointing, disgusting, and ridiculous.
This complaint is more proof Meridian financial service *** is ignorant to the laws of fair debt collection protection act, and I will be seeking damages for their unfair unlawful practices.

This company leaves voicemails with me several times weekly. At least 5 times. They somehow go straight to voicemail, phone is not ringing. They want me to call them back. Not interested, I've seen nothing but bad reviews about them online. I've never gotten mail or email from this company. I can not block their number since I'm not getting an incoming call.Business Response

I received a collection letter from them. On 10/11/23 I sent them a certified letter, which was signed for on 10/17/23, asking for proof of debt to be sent to me within 10 days. I have received nothing as of 11/8/23. I was notified that they listed the account in collection without complying with my request.I want it removed from all 3 credit bureaus immediately and proof it was completed sent to me.Business Response

Please note, Meridian Financial Services, Inc. received a full cease and desist notification from ************************ on October 10, 2023. We did receive his request for validation of the debt as he stated on October 17, 2023 - however, this correspondence did not lift the previously placed cease and desist request, therefore Meridian was unable to send the requested information. If ************************ wishes to remove the previously requested cease and desist demand, we will gladly provide validation documentation to him. Note, under the ***** and FCRA Meridian does have 30 days to provide this documentation to a consumer.

I am rejecting this response because: I asked for proof from letter that was sent to them on 10/11 and signed for on 10/17/23. If they will not provide it, I want collection account removed. In the letter it asks for proof and was within time frame they allotted. So either send me detailed proof from Royal Holiday or remove.

As previously stated one letter specifically requesting a full cease and desist of collection efforts was received on 10/10/23 - the certified letter he references was clearly marked as received on 10/17/2023 - however, given that it did not lift the prior cease and desist, documentation was not sent to him.
We will gladly provide the requested documentation as soon as Mr. ********** lifts the cease and desist from the account.

Meridian Financial is breaking the law and not allowing me to dispute my debt. Currently, I am in the process of disputing my debt and working toward the cancellation of my timeshare with Spinnaker Resorts. Despite this, Meridian Financial has shown an apparent disregard for my rights as a consumer, focusing solely on extracting profit rather than addressing my concerns or respecting my legal dispute process. It is important to note that I have no contractual agreement with Meridian Financial or Spinnaker Timeshare. Thus, they lack jurisdiction to collect a debt currently under dispute. This action is in direct contravention of my rights as a consumer. My attorney has been contacting them for months, and their actions are unacceptable.. Despite my attorneys' attempts to communicate with them over the past few months, Meridian Financial has remained unwilling to cooperate with demand to show a legal contract with my signature or have account removed from credit bureau reporting. Their behavior throughout this process has been profoundly disconcerting, showing little regard for proper business ethics or legal procedures. Should these issues persist, I will not hesitate to escalate this matter including but not limited to filing a lawsuit.Business Response

Meridian Financial Services, Inc. (Meridian) received ******************** account from our client ********************* ****************** on 6/8/23 for delinquent maintenance fees. Meridian received a request from ******************** attorney,**********************************, Esq. for validation on 7/17/23. Meridian provided the documents provided by our client to validate the debt to his attorney on 8/15/23. The documents were mailed to *********************************************************************** To date, we have not received these documents back from the **** as undeliverable. Our office received a duplicate request for validation on 8/14/23 - however, as we had sent the documentation the day prior, this request was filed. Meridian marked ******************** credit file as disputed on 7/17/23 per the letter from ************************* The file is still reporting as "disputed" to both TransUnion and Experian. Meridian has received 4 separate disputes through TransUnion and Experian - one on 8/14, claiming that the property did not belong to him. The remaining 3 disputes have all stated the consumer, ****************, claims the account is cancelled. As previously advised it is not cancelled, therefore we advised the credit reporting agencies that the information that Meridian had provided was accurate as it was reported. I have again provided the documentation provided by our client to validate the debt. A Warranty Deed, recorded 9/6/06 in Beaufort County, ** showing that ****************************** and ************************ are the legal owners of a timeshare interest at ******** Planation in ******************, **. The second document is a Quit Claim Deed where ************************ has relinquished her ownership in the timeshare interest following a divorce. Note, deeds of conveyance in ** are not required to be signed by the Grantee. Should **************** have information to the contrary - we would ask that he provide the documentation to our office for review.

I am rejecting this response because:
As reported to and requested of Meridian a legal binding contract with my signature for this debt is necessary and required by law. Both Spinnaker and Meridian have failed on all requests mentioned by them from credit bureaus and my attorney to provide legal contract binding me to any debt with Spinnaker. My next step is to file lawsuit due to no binding contract (real estate) and refusal of all requests to provide such contract, or have the reports to credit bureaus removed and stop collection activities. A deed is not a contract. Without a contract, the reporting to credit bureaus is in violation of my rights under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.Initial Complaint

Law violation and billing after not owning points.I abandoned timeshare last year because it was no use to us anymore, had no value, and our children didnt want it. Filled out paperwork to turn it back to the Resort and sent it back to them. They have continued to try and collect fees after the date of abandonment. Have no contract with Meridian. They illegally called my son on this matter while they had my phone number, and address. I called them on it and said they would get back to me. No such call has happened. They have previously repeatedly called previously and were repeatedly told the timeshare points had been abandoned in the prior year in writing to the resort. Amount is purchase price of points and prior fee paid. They are trying to continue to have us pay fees assessed after abandonment of worthless points.Business Response

I recieved notice from Meridian Financial Svcs around March 2019 about a debt from a time share company. At the time I was challenging some unauthorized activity with my account and this should have never been reported. Once the unauthorized activity issue was resolved this account was resolved but Meridian is still reporting it as a derogutory account to the credit bureaus.Business Response
