Important information
- Additional Info:BBB was contacted by a consumer who thought he was buying a 1969 SS Chevy Chevelle from this business. The consumer wired $30,000 to this business to then receive no further communication nor a vehicle. This is when he contacted BBB serving MS. A BBB investigator visited the business location in Quitman, MS to find that the original business was shut down and the city was building a new retail facility at this address. In further research, BBB found the pictures of the car the consumer thought he was purchasing on a legitimate California company's website. BBB reached out to the California company who confirmed the vehicle in question had already been sold.
Here is how the scam works: The scammers create a website using unauthorized photos from a legitimate business and the name of a recently out of business establishment. This is to look like a legitimate business. They price the vehicle at half the value, with a story that they are selling a deceased person's car collection at a reduced price. These vehicles are supposedly stored in several different warehouses scattered in different states. They email sales paperwork along with wire transfer information. They do not let you inspect the vehicle beforehand and will deliver the vehicle to you through a 3rd party transport company (who is also fake). After the fake company receives your money, they will ship you the car and deliver it directly to you. The 3rd party confirms that they are bringing you the car. The car never arrives and the money that is wired is gone. Since the money was wired it is near impossible to retrieve it because the scammer closes the account. BBB recommends you investigate before you invest.
