I took my vehicle to the shop back in May. They changed a lot of parts and told me my vehicle was ready. I paid them in June and drove the vehicle off the lot. Got 3 miles down the road and vehicle check engine light came on and the problem returned. Vehicle was accelerating on its own and had a bad vibration and trying to stall out. I returned the vehicle back to shop the same day that I paid them. I called the dealership on June 7th and ***** the service manager told me it needed a few motor but they had a motor there sitting in the shop that they were going to replace with my motor thats in the vehicle. I got my vehicle back June 13th. Here we are less than 3 months into this new motor and Im back to the same issue check engine light is on, vehicle is in limp mode, not accelerating and sputtering with a bad vibration. I took the vehicle back to the dealership September 10th. I am being told that there is water in my fuel. I had my fuel sample tested along with the station where I bought my fuel and there is no water in my fuel. I asked the dealership if there was any kind of warranty for my motor they told me no. There is no information at all regarding the motor the shop installed on my vehicle. We believe the motor they installed in my vehicle was in failure. I just want some help. I do not know what I can do at this point.

In May when the motor was replaced our service department had a motor available at the time and gifted the customer the ********************** for free.  They only paid for a few additional parts and a small fee for labor, saving the customer over $1500.00.  When they returned with water in the fuel tank the customer went into an unauthorized area while our tech was at lunch and dipped water with a cup from the fuel tank.. Gasoline and water separate with gas coming to the top and water at the bottom so a proper sample to test for water in the tank must be taken from the fuel feeder line at the bottom of the tank.  The current issue is caused by bad fuel and the customer needs to contact their insurance company with the proper sample.  This was not a faulty engine and the current problem did not arise from our service department plus the engine was free.  We do have a fuel sample that was extracted the proper way to verify the contamination.

I took my 2010 ****** Pathfinder to MORLAN ****** IN DEXTER *** Upon arriving I had spoke with my neighbor whom was a service technician THERE AT MORLAN ******. ****** IS HIS NAME ABD STILL CURRENTLY WORKING THERE. after two weeks I kept getting the run around. Went up there, couldn't get anyone to talk to. Another two and a half weeks goes by and nothing. I go up there to get my vehicle and no one knows what the deal is. No one can tell me exactly what they figured out was wrong with it. My car was completely taken apart dash out and everything. Battery out battery terminals switched. Later that afternoon after I had to tow it back home I noticed different battery different fusesable links cut ground IMPORTANT GROUND wires. Negative battery connector switched out. And hoses cut under my hood. Now my truck is a total loss at this point and cannot figure out why they did what they did to even begin to figure it out. On top of that I HAD TWO FIREARMS STOLEN OUT OF THE VERY BACK OF MY PATHFINDER BY ****** THE **** THERE AND HIS CO WORKER *****. Ms. ***** had her 2010 ********** towed to our dealership already in a condition of disrepair.   She had already had another party work on the vehicle and we were told they had replaced the radio but we had no idea what work the previous party had done. The service department spent over four hours on this vehicle and could not find the source of her problem.  Ms. ***** was only charged for one hour of labor. We did  performed a recall on the air bag which we discovered during our diagnostic tests.  That was the only repair made at our dealership.  As to the claim of theft, Ms. ***** told our service Manager that she was going through a divorce and had given some items to her neighbor ****** for safe keeping.  If appears that there may be a personal problem between the two parties which do not involve our dealership.

I have reviewed the business' response and am rejecting it because:

They are stating false information and lying about what happened. I never mentioned anything about a divorce. I haven't been married in six years. So that's false. I also stated that the items WERE IN THE VEHICLE UPON DROPPING IT OFF AT THE DEALERSHIP AND WERE GONE WHEN I PICKED IT UP. How does that make sense. Also. How do you explain the pictures and the things replaced and damaged. You never even mentioned anything about an airbag recall when I picked it up. Only said the hour of labor I paid for was for hooking my truck up to the diagnostics machine. So please elaborate more and lie again.

      Sincerely,

I purchased vehicle from Morlan about a year a go , when i bought it had ac problems and they said they would fix it and they worked on it and to them it was fixed, and it was still winter and i did not use it at all . So at the beginning of our warm season i used it drove it for about a 2-hour ride to ******** and liquid starting coming out of the ac and it quit cooling.05/14/2024 i scheduled a repair with them and they keep it all day and stated they couldn't find and it was fine so with hesitation i took it back home because they said its fine. Then on May 19 2024 i went to my dads in ******** and it started it again liquid coming out intermittently and not cooling when i drove back to **************. I dont understand there is something wrong with the vehicle and i told them it only does it when its being drove for long periods of time . Maybe its not going to do it just idling or short trip i dont know but there is something wrong with it When i bought the car i was told it would be properly fixed it was broke when i bought it and the dealership was aware. I'm very disappointed there has to be a compromise im a single woman with little to no money and i cant afford to just go out and pay thousands of dollars to get this fixed when all my warranty's run out. And basically being told to deal with it when the dealership doesn't even have an answer

I have spoken to the ****************** Manager and he is are aware of an issue with this part.  The repair that was made previously in under warranty and can be repaired at no cost to the customer.  If she will call and make an appointment that is convenient  for her the repair will be taken care of.

      Customer Answer

      Date: 08/08/2024

I have returned my encore for repairs multiple times on the following dates: 12/01/23, 12/05/23, 12/13/23, 05/14/24, and 06/20/24, specifically for AC issues. Despite claims of resolution, the problem persists, and the customer service has been extremely disappointing. Sharing the Morlan surname, I feel embarrassed as people often associate me with them and express their complaints. It's exhausting to repeatedly ask my disabled father, a retired Navy veteran, to surrender his car, which he needs due to his disability. The service manager's lack of communication exacerbates the situation. The car, sold with a non-functional air conditioner, should not have been my responsibility from the outset. They promised a loaner car until the repair was completed, but retracted that offer after the first repair attempt. As a result, my father is left without a vehicle. On the last repair date, 06/20/24, I was assured it would be ready, but upon calling at 4:30 PM, I discovered no work had been done. This situation raises questions about the integrity of car dealerships and the state of customer service.

Sat,Mar 16, 2024 I had a 1300 appt w *************************, sales rep at Autry Morlan, ********, **. ***** pulled up a couple of vehicles that were both located at the dealership in ******, **. We drove over, looked at two silver Dodge Ram 1500s. I passed on the one due to damage around the ******** area. The 2021 Ram that I chose had minimal wear/tear on the cover on the tailgate & a minor little paint scratch at the front of the truck. There were no more easily visible scratches or dents.I left the vehicle at the dealership so they could reseal the drivers side head light (there was & still is moisture in the head light), smooth out the rotors due to vibration in the steering wheel and a little vibration in the seat/rear, seal the ding in the windshield on the drivers side & obtain the second key & the title/documents from the Dexter **** The truck was supposed to be ready for pickup on Monday, 18 March. After leaving several voicemail, text messages for Ivory, I drove to Autry Morlan around 1600. ***** told me that the service **** was just about finished, but the windshield repair tech wouldnt be in until Tues & the tech for the key wouldnt be in until Thurs. I had to return to IL for medical appts & work. ***** & the sales manager (******** believe is the name) agreed to me leaving the vehicle there until I could return the following weekend. 22 March 2024, I called/left several messages for Ivory (of which he returned none). I also called & left messages for the sales manager. He never returned my calls either. I arrived at Autry Morlan at 1208 & was given the key. I had to ask about the temp tags (of which they are only for 30 days and not the 60 days with a $25 check to be given to the *** since the title docs were not made available upon pickup). I drove the truck home & while looking at it w my dad, saw a very noticeable dent in the back bumper drivers side. Called Ivory & returned to the store. He knew of the dent but said nothing upon pickup.

Purchased a used car from them 9 Feb 2023. I was told the car just got out of their service department and had been checked out. A day after purchase the check engine light came on. I notified the salesman and he was told the car was finished by his sales manager. In truth it had not been serviced at all. I had to take a day off work to get new tires that I was told were already on it but was not. I had them run a diagnostic scan and the car needs ***** dollars worth of repairs. The service department told me sales would not cover it and sales had pulled it out knowing it had not been checked over. In short sales pulled the car out of service just to sell it to me knowing it was in need of repair.

      Business Response

      Date: 02/19/2024

The vehicle was in our service department for a pre-sale inspection February 5th.  New tires were scheduled to be installed and that was completed at no charge to the customer as was the agreement.  The check engine light was not on during the time it was in our service department nor was it on the day of the sale.  ************** can contact our management, ***** or ****, regarding the repair.  They are aware of ************** concern.

      Complaint: 21305637

I am rejecting this response because:

I made several attempts to call with no answer.  The tires were already supposed to be on the car and as far as the check engine light, I am not sure how anyone would have known it was not on since sales removed the vehicle before the service department could look at it. I was told that it had not been checked by the service department themselves and it should have not been sold without them inspecting it. That was their words. The two names given as a response are sales managers not members of the service department.  I need a member of the service department to reach out to me not sales. Sales removing this vehicle from service before it had been inspected is what caused this in the first place.

      Sincerely,

      *********************

      Customer Answer

      Date: 02/23/2024

As to debunk their theory that the car was serviced prior to sale. This is from when they put the tires on that I was told were on at the time of the sale. The catalitic converter and two O2 sensors do not go out in a day. Which is the time it took me to tell the dealership about the issue.  If this vehicle had been serviced as I was told they would have found these issue, instead the sales manager pulled the car out of service before inspection was completed.

      Customer Answer

      Date: 03/12/2024

How is this settled when it is illegal to sell a car that does not pass emission test and the only thing they will offer is pay half of the 2500 required to fix it? The salesman that sold the car no longer works there and told me they probably turned the check engine light off since it came on one day after purchase? I am not sure how you can condone illegal action from businesses.

On August 30th 2023 I took my truck in for an airbag recall. After they replaced the passenger side airbag unit I noticed the service airbag readout on my dash as well as the airbag light was on. I called them immediately and asked for it to be fixed. I took the truck in the very next evening and waited when I was approached by a women with my truck keys, she said the light was already on. I said no it wasn't and asked to speak to someone. A guy grabbed the keys from her and said "I'll show him" aggressively. My truck was parked right outside the door and he opened the drivers side door and pointed at the steering wheel and said it was damaged and that the airbag had been deployed. And I said yes, it's a salvaged title truck and he said "well there you go, the light was already on" and I said no it wasn't. At this point I was very angry, one for being called a liar and two for waiting to get my truck fixed and realizing they'd not fixed it. So I swore angrily at the man and said I wanted my truck fixed in not so nice a tone or words. He said he would not be disrespected that way and started walking off. Making this embarrassing story short at this point - I asked where it showed the problem was and he said they didn't go that deep into it. Which means they didn't even hook it up to the computer. Which means they didn't even know it was their fault! Which just made me madder. I ripped the paper floor mat out, cursed him again and left. After a few weeks of research and purchasing a $200 dollar reader I found out that it was in fact the passaneger side console airbag they had replaced causing the problem. Which I already knew. But now knew without a doubt. With the light on, my airbag system did not work. Which means if I had a wreck I would be unprotected! So I bypassed the airbag by using two 2.2 ohm resistors on the line going in to the dash unit. The light is off now. If they had just done their job right in the first place none of this would have happened.

      Customer Answer

      Date: 09/27/2023

As you can clearly see from the images where the problem is is what Autry Morlan worked on. They replaced that very airbag and now that very airbag is showing a short to ground. The short to ground was not there until they replaced the airbag. If I bypass that very airbag then the light goes off. This is submitted into evidence showing that the business did not do their job properly because if they had, one they would have checked to see if any lights or errors were on the computer before changing the airbag out and two they would have listened to the owner of the vehicle when they expressly said there was no lights present. And go ahead and throw in a three, if they had only been willing to discuss that they could possibly be wrong and not blame it on something that it was not instead. These photos show what I'm saying is correct and true. All I want is them to fix what they messed up that way my life is not in danger because my safety system does not work as it is and it would be working if they would fix their mistake. It's simple as that. Since they have not contacted me I can only assume that they do not care about my safety or the quality of their work.

****************** brought his truck in for a recall and after the work was performed the airbag light was on. We offered to scan the the computer on the truck to find out the reason for the light but ****************** left in anger due a dispute he had with the person at the service desk over the light.  Because ****************** was so angry he did not give the service department an opportunity to try and resolve the issue at that time and has since rewired the the airbag with resistors.  Because the airbag has been rewired the service manager says it is not possible to try make a repair which they cannot guarantee to be successful.

      Customer Answer

      Date: 10/16/2023

      Complaint: 20629736

I am rejecting this response because:
I was not offered for them to hook up the truck to the computer. In fact when I asked where the problem was they said "we didn't go that far into it" which means they didn't even hook it up. Because I hooked it up and found out in a few minutes the problem was the passenger side dash airbag - the very same one you replaced. If they hadn't tried to blame it on something else we wouldn't be here in this situation. So no, I reject that they even tried to find out the issue. That's literally why I was there. That's why I brought it back in. So whoever said they offered to hook it up is flat out lying. Sadly

And I did not rewire the airbag. If you look at the pictures I sent it's obvious that no wires are cut. I simply pushed in come resistors to get the light to go off so that if I have a wreck I hopefully won't die. Thank you for your concern by the way.  The resistors can simply be removed out of the plug and the air bag can be hooked up without any issues. Well other than the faulty airbag. It's not a permanent thing regardless.

Information is not getting to the right people and or no one is bothering to listen to what's being said. I'll lay it out with bullet points.

      *Recall, airbag changed

      *paid, left, airbag light on

*called, appointment made - was told it was steering wheel,he literally pointed at and touched the steering wheel. And they didn't hook up to computer otherwise he'd known it was the passenger side dash airbag

*no offer was made to hook it up, because that's why I was there to find out what it was. If they had hooked it up they would have found out it was their mistake not the steering wheel.

*anger - left mad - for good reason when called a liar - over reacted sure - still that doesn't deviate from the facts.

*Pushed in a couple of resistors to bypass airbag. Did not cut wires.

      *filed complaint with BBB

      *inaccurate information relayed back.

*Issue is very simple guys - fix is very simple. None of this had to happen if only they had done their job and hooked the truck up to the computer.

I know I don't have a fancy new truck. Yes it's been wrecked and has a salvage title. But that doesn't mean I don't deserve respect. The guy that I talked to asked for respect while calling me a liar about what the issue was. That was unnecessary. My anger was definitely unnecessary as well. I should have stayed calm - but it all happened so fast - I apologize to the guy and I'd hope he would come clean about what he did and why he shouldn't have done it and how this whole thing could have been avoided if he had simply done his job.

Now - I'd be willing to take it to another place in town that is owned by Autry Morlan if that would make it easier on eveyone at that location. But the issue should be fixed as it wasn't an issue until it was taken in for the recall.

      I await your response.

We had a care and traded it in for a new car. I was owed a refund from the insurance I had on my old car, the car I traded in for $1000. The company told me I could pay $1000 down and make payments to cover the remaining balance. This did not happen. Instead they took it upon themselves to keep the refund I was owed from my former insurance company. This has been going on for a few months and I have not been able to get any type of response from the company to resolve this matter.

BBB Business Profiles are provided solely to assist you in exercising your own best judgment. BBB asks third parties who publish complaints, reviews and/or responses on this website to affirm that the information provided is accurate. However, BBB does not verify the accuracy of information provided by third parties, and does not guarantee the accuracy of any information in Business Profiles.

When considering complaint information, please take into account the company's size and volume of transactions, and understand that the nature of complaints and a firm's responses to them are often more important than the number of complaints.

BBB Business Profiles generally cover a three-year reporting period, except for customer reviews. Customer reviews posted prior to July 5, 2024, will no longer be published when they reach three years from their submission date. Customer reviews posted on/after July 5, 2024, will be published indefinitely unless otherwise voluntarily retracted by the user who submitted the content, or BBB no longer believes the review is authentic. BBB Business Profiles are subject to change at any time. If you choose to do business with this company, please let them know that you checked their record with BBB.

As a matter of policy, BBB does not endorse any product, service or business. Businesses are under no obligation to seek BBB accreditation, and some businesses are not accredited because they have not sought BBB accreditation. BBB charges a fee for BBB Accreditation. This fee supports BBB's efforts to fulfill its mission of advancing marketplace trust.
