My car stopped. I have AAA. I had my car towed there. I talked to the mechanic and they did a diagnostic test. They said I needed a crank shaft sensor. That was $103. They put in a crank shifter sensor for $169. My check engine light was on. I wanted them to find out why it was on. They told me I needed two valve covers and spark plugs. They said they cleared all codes. When he finished, it was $1098.02. I thought I was good to go. The light came on the next day. I took it back. They wanted me to pay for another diagnostic check. I did not know why I had to pay that. Then he told me I needed a catalytic converter. I asked why didn't the first diagnostic check reveal this. . They new I needed this from the beginning. I wanted to get an oil change. After getting it, the oil light came on. I went back to Valvoline. They said they put oil in there. So they put the oil in. I went back to them and now they want $1400 to put in a new catalytic converter. They promised me that the light will not stay on. If I knew I needed a catalytic convertor, I would not have got the other work done. The car is not even worth the amount I am putting into it.I am a senior citizen. They should have been open and honest with me from the beginning. You wanted $2800 from me on a car that is worth @ $2500. You took away my decision to decide due to not letting me know from the beginning what my car needed.

I am replacing the catalytic converter at cost.  I may be finished by Monday.   We will be calling her when the job is complete.

On Monday, June 7, 2021, ****** brought her 2005 Nissan Altima to the shop and spoke with me about her concerns related to the catalytic converters.  I offered to install two new catalytic converters to her car at my cost for the parts and labor with the estimate coming in around $600.00.  ****** agreed to my offer and left the vehicle for the week.  After the new catalytic converters were installed, I took the vehicle on several test drives to get the computer monitors to completed.  When we ran the emissions test this morning, the car passed the emissions test.  The check engine light is off and there were no codes in the computer system when the car left today.

See the enclosed copy of our repair order #***** showing the work we performed along with all the discounts on parts and labor that came off her bill.  We provided the emission test at no charge too.

When ****** came today to pick up her car, I explained the work we did and he notes about the condition of the engine.  I asked if she was satisfied with outcome, and she said yes.  She told me she was going to send a written reply to the BBB and give me a copy.

Please let me know if anything else is needed on my end to close this complaint with a positive outcome.

I have given him $1098.02 for work on the car.  He didn't tell me at the beginning that I needed a converter.  And I'm still having trouble with the oil burning.  He didn't tell me that from the beginning so I could make a good decision on what to do with the car.  This has been going on since October.

      Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because: Just yesterday, there was low oil.  I had my brother in law put in some oil in my car due to it not having any oil inside.  This morning, there is oil all in my driveway.  There is an oil leak.  This was not discovered when they had my car for a week?  I asked them about checking my oil when they were changing my converter and engine valve cover in October?  They should have noticed the oil leak each of those times.  I want them to stop the oil leak or return my money.  I just want my car to run properly.

      Sincerely,

      ****** ********
