    As part of our home sales negotiations, we agreed to the addition of a sump pump in the crawl space to address drainage issues identified prior to closing. While the pump was physically installed, they failed to provide an electrical connection, rendering it completely inoperable. This failure came to light in May 2021, when we discovered standing water in the crawl space while preparing to list the home for sale.Due to this negligence, we were forced to spend $7,029.75 in urgent repairs to correct the drainage issues and ensure the home was habitable and marketable. Had the sump pump been properly installed and connected, this damage and expense would have been entirely avoidable.The failure to deliver a functional sump pump constitutes: Breach of contract, as the pump installation was not completed to a usable standard; Negligent workmanship, as the installation was not completed to a usable standard; And potentially a breach of any applicable builder warranty.I am requesting full reimbursement of these repair costs from the builder/seller.

    We purchased a new build home from Jake Scott Development and counter offered the addition of a sump pump after finding water in the crawl space. The addition of a sump pump was agreed upon (attached) but the builder did not install a functioning sump pump or any electrical for the sump pump to even work.

    We sold **** and ***** ******* the home located at ************************** on February 12th, 2019 and they accepted the home in the condition it was in. The buyers were given a 1 year builder warranty from the time of the sale that covered structural and mechanical issues.  The warranty expired February 12th, 2020 with no complaints or requests to fix anything. This 1 year warranty period would have been the time to make any requests for corrections.  It is our understanding that they sold the house  approximately 4 years ago. Better Business Bureau we respectfully ask that you consider the facts that we have provided and to find our handling of this situation to be fair and appropriate.

    I have reviewed the business' response and am rejecting it because: we did not accept the home as-is. We had an inspection completed and counter offered the addition of a sump pump which I have attached.
