A Disappointing End to a Once-Respectable Career In 2023, we reached out to **** *****, owner of Barndominiums of the Ozarks in Shell ****, **, about building a residential metal structure on our 5-acre lot in ***************, **. He was the most helpful and informative contractor we encountered. Unfortunately, we've put the project on ******* the end of 2024, we revisited the project and contacted Mr. ***** again. He was ready to proceed, and we agreed on a plan, including a $750 upfront payment for architectural drawings. The plan was for five revisions, with a final payment of $750 once completed. In late October 2024, and everything seemed in order.Despite a few emails to clarify details and some back-and-forth communication, we understood that we were still in the planning phase. We expected a delay due to the holiday season and illnesses on both ends, but by mid-January 2025, our concerns grew. We hadnt received a response since December 16, when Mr. ***** had apologized for the lack of communication due to flu and bronchitis. On February 4, 2025, my husband left a voicemail, and moments later received a text saying Mr. ***** was on a web conference and had been texting the wrong customer. He promised to call that afternoonbut did not. As of February 11, 2025, we still have not heard from him.Given the lack of communication and the mounting delays, we no longer feel confident in proceeding with this project. We are requesting a full refund of our $1500 deposit and have decided to find another builder. While we understand that there may be many extenuating circumstances, the lack of transparency and communication is disappointing, especially so early in the process. Its unfortunate that an otherwise strong career seems to be ending in a way that could sully Mr. ****** good name. Would you want a failure to follow through and an inability to communicate effectively to reduce your professional profile to that of a thief and a liar? We sure wouldnt.
