    Im filing a formal complaint against Backwater Jacks in *********** due to serious concerns about health, sanitation, food quality, and unprofessional conduct from staff.When we arrived, we were overwhelmed by a strong sewage odor both inside and outside. The restrooms were filthy, clearly not maintained. The overall state of the restaurant raised major hygiene concerns.We ordered a Cuban sandwich and a burger. The Cuban had a strong, fishy smell and taste, which made it inedible. The burger was overcooked, dry, and no one asked for our preferred doneness. These issues suggest poor food prep and lack of kitchen training.The outdoor seating was in poor condition, with broken chairs and a strong urine smell from the pool area. It made us question whether the pool is properly cleaned or treated at all.I spoke with the General Manager, ******, and a manager named ****. They were dismissive and unprofessional. When I asked for a refund of $52.00, they refused. When I said Id file a complaint with the health department, **** laughed and said, Go ahead we already had our inspection for the year. She then told us we were no longer welcome.We drove from ************** specifically to visit this restaurant, only to receive poor service, unsafe conditions, and rude treatment. This experience was unacceptable and disappointing.I ask that the BBB review this complaint and that proper follow-up be done regarding sanitation, food safety, and customer service practices. I believe a new health inspection is warranted.
