I was set to move out of an apartment located at 1*** * ******** *** *** ** ********* ** ***** ** **vember 27, 2024. My unit was cleaned with a few areas needing a surface wipe down. There was $50.00 that was set to come out of my security deposit for cleaning per my lease. I was charged $160.00 for an 8 hour clean for a 2 bedroom small apartment— that was nearly move in ready. I asked for a justification of these charges and was told that is what they paid. I went speak in person and ******* *****m, the owners daughter, was disgustingly rude. She kept making excuses why she couldn’t see the photos clearly. Every thing (except the stove top, which did have crumbs on it) she pointed out was clean, and the photos showed so. She claimed everything still needed wiped down. I agreed, that was what the $50.00 was for. I explained how I had a cleaning girl come every two weeks while I lived there during my 10 month duration, the stools were absolutely clean, the floor was clean, I had cleaned the baseboards, the mirrors were wiped down, etc. A****** advised over and over again she wasn’t giving me money back. All I asked for was justification as to why I was charged almost $200 for a small apartment clean, for an apartment that was already in fantastic shape and that I tried to leave it as good— if not better— than I found it. She picked up the papers, and said, “you know what take your papers and leave” and took her hand and shoo’d it in my face. I handed the papers back to her and said this was absurd. And left. After speaking with several others who have had experience with Sandy Hisle and her staff at Tower Realty, they advised that Sandy commonly has “shady” practices with returning money or payments to her consumers and her business is very questionable.

We have an addendum that ***** signed stating that any cleaning over $50 would be charged to her. We hire an outside service to clean these apartments that is not affiliated with Tower Realty in any way besides that they clean our rental units. I have attached the addendum and  a copy of the receipt. I am also attaching some of the pictures of the property. Not only was the stove dirty but the baseboards all needed to be wiped down and cabinets cleaned out, bathrooms needed to be cleaned and floors mopped.  The cleaning lady cleans the apartments from top to bottom and we transfer this fee to the tenants all but that is allotted ($50). By signing the contract she agreed to pay the difference. The original bill was $160 however ***** was only charged $110 per our written agreement.

As for attitude, ***** continued to talk over me and tell me we were ripping her off. I did give her the papers and told her she could leave as she would not give me time to respond and show her the pictures. She continued to talk over me so I gave her the papers and told her she could leave. She proceeded to throw the papers on the desk and they went all over the desk and floor and left. The entire time she was in here she kept saying we were ripping her off and just because that is what we choose to pay our cleaning lady was not her fault and we were screwing her over. As I stated above the cleaning lady is not affiliated with Tower Realty, she is an independent contractor.  We do not up charge cleaning to our previous tenants. We do not make any money off of any of the repairs, cleanings or other things done after move out. We are only paid on rent income so what we charge for cleaning and repairs has no bearings on our business's income.

    Please see attached  the addendum S****** *** ********* *** *** bill.

We have raised the rent of *** ****** for the last two years. We do this on his renewal where he has the opertunity to move or we can change the lease terms. He is only held to this when the lease is renewed. He can choose to find another place to move to if he would like. We do pay part of the utilities on this unit and the price of everything included but not limited to insurance, untilities, taxes and interest have increased in the last year. This rent is still below market rate and everyone else in his building is paying more than his rent. We have chosen to raise the rent slowly $50 every year rather than a large increase all at once. Thank you for your time.
