I contacted Steinmetz and spoke to *****. I told him I had a 4 wheel drive Ford Suv that was making rear end noise and was not engaging all of its gears all of the time, and that it would have to be towed. They towed the car and within a few days ***** contacted me and said it would be 2,600 plus tow for the complete transmission rebuild on a 4x4 ford suv. Within a few more days ***** contacted me again and said I needed catalytic converters. I told him I wanted to take the suv to shop of my choice to confirm catalytic converters. ***** said he uses warehouse tires and promised that he would charge me whatever warehouse tires charged him, and guaranteed that I could not find a better price on the catalytic converters. And he said he wouldn’t rebuild and warranty my transmission if I didn’t get the engine catalytic converters done. I told the engine wasn’t the main concern, but he couldn’t guarantee his work unless I got the converters, So I paid 3,600 dollars and change, cash for the repair. ***** asked me to my face “ when the work is done, are you going to be able to pay me?” And I told him yes, and I paid cash for the rebuilt transmission on a 4x4 suv and catalytic converters. The suv still doesn’t shift correctly, and it still makes noise, and now the 4wd light blinks off and on and the suv makes a terrible sound, worse than before so I called and was told to bring the suv back to Steinmetz. They want 1,300 dollars for a rear differential. They changed how power is being distributed and didn’t say anything about the differential when they gave initial repair estimate. I told him my observations and ***** checked over the car before he asked me for 3600 dollars. The attached photo is the cash I sent my son to pay *****. **** represents my car, and it’s ransom. At the time I thought it was funny. Now it’s a problem and I don’t trust he won’t ask me for more money.
