I hired Monster Tree Service to perform tree removal at my property in Lee’s Summit, Missouri on June 2, 2025. During the course of their work, the crew caused clear and significant damage to another healthy tree on my property that was not scheduled for removal. The damage appears to have resulted from heavy equipment or careless work near the second tree.

At the time of service, the damage was visible and acknowledged by the crew. Since then, I have made multiple good-faith attempts to contact the company by email and phone to address the damage and request a fair resolution. Despite these efforts, Monster Tree Service has not responded with any meaningful attempt to resolve the issue.

I have photo documentation of the tree damage and can verify the second tree was in healthy condition prior to the job. I have offered to make a partial payment for the work completed, while reserving the right to dispute the portion of the bill related to the damage. However, Monster Tree Service has not accepted or acknowledged this partial payment offer, and I am now concerned they may attempt to file a mechanic’s lien or refer me to collections, despite the active and unresolved dispute.

I am seeking assistance from your office to encourage Monster Tree Service to respond in good faith and work toward a reasonable and fair resolution to this matter. I am not refusing payment — only withholding a portion of the balance until the property damage caused by their work is addressed.

I started an email chain with the owner and office manager on June 3 and I am not getting any replies.
The company initially offered a $150 root fertilization service but this will not re grow the 3 branches that were removed or help the 4 grow back as the limb is cracked at the base of tree. I am seeking the $150 off the original invoice amount.

    Business Response

    Date: 06/18/2025

We do apologize for the damage to the Redbud during pruning around your house service line and for any untimely responses. We do not want or expect payment for the removals until we can come to a fair agreement on how to resolve this issue. I have been waiting for our Certified Arborist to come out and access the damage to the Redbud so we can better know how to proceed. As I did offer a complimentary tree fertilization, I want to make sure that makes sense and will be helpful for the tree.

Please know, we will make sure that we both will come to and agree on a resolution. We want to retain our clients for a lifetime and making sure they are happy is important to us.

    Business Response

    Date: 06/28/2025

This communication was sent to our client on 06/18/25:

**** – we are not asking for payment until this has been
reviewed. We have not sent another invoice since you originally contacted us
and we will not be submitting anything for collections since we are working to
come to a resolution, as our standard practice. We would like to resolve the
issue fairly. I apologize for not responding since last week, but wanted to
look at the tree first. As per my earlier email, ***** will be doing that this
    afternoon.

It sounded like you are not interested in the Deep Root
Fertilization / Soil Injection, but I wish you would consider that because your
Redbud can benefit from that. We do this on new and older trees. All trees
    benefit from improved soil.

I will call you this evening after 5pm.

    Thank you, *** ******

I followed up with our client on 06/23/25 to see if they had decided to proceed and they decided to go with the complimentary Soil Treatment. We are scheduled to do the treatment the week of 06/30/25.

    Thanks

    *** ******
