Regarding my patio replacement by G.E. Elmore Contacting:Steps were uneven when set as well as when finished Concrete not raised and leveled as it was discussed to be Edges curve and I now have less patio than before Side of patio not smoothed out Ruts left allover in yard Cigarette butts left in yard after every visit Children were brought to work Crew invited neighbors walking down the street to see the jobsite while in progress Chemicals were dumped in my yard where my children play Due to already taking off work multiple days that the concrete pour was supposed to happen but kept getting pushed back with very little communication, I was not able to be off AGAIN on the day it was being poured. ***** assured he typically does jobs while homeowners were not home so this would not be an issue. When I called ***** to make sure the crew understood what needed to be done, he didnt answer as he was busy at another job site. He only responded when I texted asking if it was normal that children were brought to the jobsite to which he responded that he didnt care how the job was done as long as it was done right. Once I saw on my ring camera that the crew was inviting a neighbor walking down the street with her young child, to come to my backyard to watch, I immediately had to leave work as I didnt feel comfortable with the trespassing. ***** came back and inspected the work days later and acknowledgement the poor job they did, yet changed his tone completely via text being careful not to admit to any faulty work. He takes no responsibility and blames the poor workmanship and overall bad experience. ***** also tried to blame it on an issue discovered with the garage upon patio tear out. The issue with the garage is separate from the patio and its being addressed by a different company and does not interfere with the patio at all. This patio is going to be a complete tear out and redo and ***** is refusing to refund the half we have paid.Business Response

There were multiple concrete contractors bidding for this
project, some of whom came through referrals. G.E. Elmore Contracting’s bid was
on the higher end, but they were chosen due to their assurance of availability
and an earlier completion date (which was days before 2024 Thanksgiving holiday). Although I
paid G.E. Elmore Contracting to remove the brick patio pavers, I decided to
take on the task myself (without a reduction in the price) and ***** expressed
his appreciation, saying my help would speed up the project’s completion.Your home is your biggest investment, and safety and code
compliance are important and critical. Evidence shows this project does not
meet those standards. The new concrete steps are a serious hazard, potentially
leading to falls, injuries, or worse. The patio is also incorrectly installed,
risking damage to my retaining wall, basement entertainment area, and no
grading has been done. In addition, I have cleaned up areas of the worksite, but the backyard looks terrible.The installation of rebars into my home’s foundation was
never mentioned. Moreover, recent findings show
cracks in the interior plaster wall where the rebars are located.G.E. Elmore Contracting’s response to the destruction of the
exterior electrical meter box ground rod is incomprehensible. This jeopardizes our
safety, my home and the home’s
electrical system. Evidence shows that the ground rod did not interfere with
the location of the existing exterior steps, nor would it have caused problems with
future projects; however, the ground rod is located in the area of the new
concrete patio installed by G.E. Elmore Contracting. Moreover, any electrical work would have been handled by a “qualified
electrician”, not a concrete contractor.G.E. Elmore Contracting ignored our attempts to
resolve and correct these serious issues and has not completed the project.
Months later, we contacted the Better Business Bureau, hoping for a safe, code
compliance, swift, and acceptable resolution. The evidence clearly shows that
G.E. Elmore Contracting did poor work, failed to grade the backyard, left the
job site messy and unfinished, and caused damage to the property. They must
take responsibility and correct these dangerous issues caused by their work or agree on another applicable acceptable resolution. This project continues to cause considerable stress and severe anxiety.

ject: Response to Mr. ********* Review Dear [Review Platform/Community], We appreciate the opportunity to respond to Mr. *******’s concerns regarding his recent experience with our company. When Mr. ******* first reached out, we were experiencing a high volume of projects. Nevertheless, we made every effort to accommodate his request and complete the work before winter weather set in. We identified several days to prioritize his project, understanding the importance of timely completion. Regarding the project specifics, it was always our understanding that Mr. ******* wanted to remove a small 12x12 brick paver patio himself, which we did not insist he do since we had the equipment to manage it. As for the crew size, given the limited scope of the project—which involved removing a small concrete pad and some pavers—two workers were sufficient to complete the job efficiently. We experienced an unexpected rain delay, which is beyond our control, but we were back on-site the very next day to continue our work. Mr. ******* has indicated he was not informed about the rebar installation into the foundation; however, I discussed this with him in person. He agreed to this additional measure, which was undertaken to prevent settling, at no extra charge. In addition, we moved the existing ground wire to facilitate the placement of the steps Mr. ******* intended to install after the patio completion. This was done as a courtesy to ensure his future work could proceed smoothly and safely. I also want to emphasize that I informed Mr. ******* from the outset that completing the job to meet inspection standards would significantly increase costs—potentially three times the original estimate. We worked together to find a solution that fit his budget while still addressing the most pressing needs. Furthermore, we performed extra grading beyond what was originally discussed to provide the best solution we could to divert water and have it shed to the back of the yard without re-hauling the entire area. I find it somewhat surprising that Mr. ******* has raised concerns about inspection specifics, especially considering that I had already mentioned to him in person that the existing steps were not correct either. Concerning the use of debris as filler for the new steps, this is a standard practice we employ to ensure the structure remains stable and manageable in weight, minimizing any potential settling issues. On the final day of our work, we ensured that the site was clean, and I personally confirmed with Mr. ******* that he was satisfied with the progress. I even offered to return after winter to address any settling issues, emphasizing my commitment to customer satisfaction. While Mr. ******* was friendly and cooperative throughout the process, I am concerned that the negative review does not accurately reflect the efforts we made to meet his expectations. We strive to provide excellent service and high-quality results, and it is unfortunate that Mr. ******* felt dissatisfied despite our commitment to open communication and working within his budget constraints. Our company has built a reputation over 20 years for excellence and customer satisfaction. We generally do not take on projects in Mr. *******’s area due to distance, but we made an exception based on a referral from a previous satisfied customer.
