On June 16, 2022 and July 1, 2022, I entered into 2 contracts with ***** (***) Morris, dba J Morris Construction. The first contract had a start date of 6/20/22 completion date of 7/25/2022 and the second had a start date of 7/18/2022 with completion happening before August 6th when granite was scheduled to be installed. *** used COVID as an excuse that we needed to collect deposits for the workers in advance or they would not work on my job. Deposits were given in a series of checks. The job total should have been $31,000 but apparently, I selected upgraded lighting which in turn made the cost higher and needed more money for the electrician. The kitchen and hall bath were removed mid-July. As I type this complaint it is now November and I do not have a working kitchen or bathroom. An electrician did some work and he did NOT pay them! Nothing has been done since that time.Starting in September, I have been requesting materials, such as flooring and all the supplies for the bathroom. Nothing has been delivered. *** makes a lot of excuses and doesn't show. Will lead you on a wild goose chase to get materials. As of this point, we do not have ANY materials however I have paid $36,750.We spoke in October and agreed that he would deliver my materials and we would part ways, with him refunding my money. Neither has occured. When I first searched the BBB I was searching under the name he gave me. After the contracts were signed I found complaints about different variations of the name of his company. ***** Morris Construction, J Morris Construction and AP Dream Kitchen and Bath, which is under his wife/girlfriend's name. He has complaints on ******** "Deals Gone Bad" and has other cases for fraud, breach of contract, and more. It appears he has done this for years with minimal consequences. I have been very willing to work with him but it has been 5 months and neither materials nor money has been refunded for the deconstruction of my home. Buyer beware.
