We purchased a 2015 **** f-150 through McLain Motors on January 31st 2024. The truck was $26,000. We traded in another vehicle and cash for our down payment which came out to be $15,000 for our down payment towards the vehicle plus the trade in. We were never handed a title in the mix. They blamed us for losing the title 2 times when we never had a title in the first place. It is now October 3rd 2024 and we still do not have our title to the truck we purchased through Mclain Motors back in January of 2024. Yes, we have contacted them multiple times about this matter and we are told that they dont know what is going on. But each time we ask they say it will only be a few more weeks. Well after those said weeks are up we contact them and they still have yet to get our title. Each time there is a different excuse. We are paying towards a loan on this vehicle each month that we cant drive because it is not legal due to not having the title. This is not fair that we pay for insurance and a loan payment on this truck when we cant even drive it since the dealership has never handed us the title! Now we will have penaltys that we have to pay due to not being able to license our truck through the ***. What do we do??? We contacted our lawyerBusiness Response

Customers date of purchase was actually 01/25. Customer received title less then 30 days after purchase which is the allotted time frame in the state of Missouri per MO Form 5830. Customer signed for their title at date of pickup. We have all customers sign when they pick titles up for this exact reason. Customer then waited until 05/21/24 to come back to the dealership and claim they never received their title. We showed them proof that they did, they both agreed the possibility was true and asked what the next step was. We handed it off to our titling department and a duplicate title was applied for on behalf of the customer and the dealership on 05/28/24 and has been waiting on the state of Missouri since. Customer has been kept in the loop the entire time. We have multiple messages sent, timelines given, signed documents and detailed notes of the issue. Unfortunately there is not much else we can do except wait for the state of Missouri.Initial Complaint

I bought my car on June 28, 2023 from McLain Motors in *******************. Purchase price was ******. It was a 2016 ****** Altima with ****** miles. I was provided with 2 month temp tags. 2 months pass by and I tried to get the car registered in my name. I got all of the documents I needed. When I went to the dmv I was told I needed a lien release for the person who had the car before me. She stated it doesnt show in their system that the cars previous owner paid it off. As soon as I left I immediately called the place I bought it from and informed them what I needed. **** McLain, the owner, then told me he would do some research and call me back in a few. I didnt hear back for a few days I called him myself and asked if he got the documentation I needed to register my car. He then told me the car does not have a lien and he would call the dmw. A couple days later, he called me and stated he would get the lien release and it would be 3-5 business days. A week in a half went by and I still hadnt heard anything from them. So I called. I was then pushed off onto one of his employees and his name is *****. ***** informed me they never got the lien release in the mail or by fax. And that they were going to take a different approach and get a new fixed title. It has been almost a month and still nothing. I follow up once or twice a week and still get the same run down. Its always a different story. I am not sure what is really going on at this point other than I am unable to get my car legal. I am unable to drive a car that I am paying ****** on monthly. It has been four months since Ive bought my car. Four months. I feel like I have been taking advantage of. They are not helping me and Im not sure what to do at this point. I can not continue to drive a car that is not legally registered.Business Response

I had purchased a car with a loan from McLains on April 29. On may 4th the car that I had received from them blew up after telling me there was absolutely nothing wrong with it. I have messages telling the dealership that this car has problems starting the day that I got it. I contacted them threw text so I have all the text messages saying that my car will be fixed soon and the warranty will take care of it. They also said the warranty would cover a rental which was false also I have told them I do not want the car. They have lied to me since the day that I got it. They refused to show me the car fax. They told me I had to do that myself. They also put **** miles on my car and lied to the *************** and told them I did that. There was **** miles on it since mclains has bought it they told me that I have to make my first payment. But they have not gave me a loaner car or switched my deal.Initial Complaint

On the date of February 24th, I had bought a 2013 Voltswagon Jetta Hybrid from McLain Motors in Farmington, Missouri. From the day that I had drove the car off the lot I had a flashing wrench symbol on my dashboard. Shortly after the purchase of the car would have times of wanting to lose drive power and stop moving. I had taken the car back the dealership and tried to get a different car from them but they said that they would need an additional $500's down on top of the downpayment that I had put down on the Jetta but I didn't have the $500 extra so I left. On April 8th I was driving my drive when it ended up just straight breaking down on me. I had tried talking to McLain Motors again to see what we could do about the car problem but all they told me to do is to use the service contract that I payed for separately from the car. After that I had the car towed up to the **** **** ********** dealership where I had the hopes of getting the car fixed, but the car is going to cost $11,342 to fix the car. I had also talked to one of the sales reps up there and he said that car wasn't even worth what it was going to take to fix it and my service contract would never even cover even close to the cost to fix it. The sales rep who's name is Joe Wicks and he even went through all the paperwork that we had gotten from McLain Motors and he saw that they never did a safety and fuel emissions test on the car and he said that the car would of not passed the inspection. And I had even talked to the owner of McLain's and he told me that he didn't have to get the car inspected.Business Response

All vehicles purchased from McLain Motors are purchased as is from us. All vehicles that qualify for a safety inspection come with it as required. During all transactions the customer is offered a service contract to cover any mechanical failure. In this specific case, the customer contacted McLain Motors and we scheduled him for an appointment at a mechanic's shop on two separate occasions that he failed to arrive at. We attempted all means possible to remedy the unfortunate situation for this customer including trying to put him in a different vehicle. However the customer decided to keep this vehicle with the known issues.Initial Complaint
