I purchased my 5th wheel trailer from Byerly RV in ******, **. After several years of service it developed a water leak at the rear off the trailer, The leak was behind the wall so there was no immediate indication of a leak. The first sign of the leak was a small puddle of water on the end table on the right side of the couch. The water was stained ***** indicating the wallboard which is made of Masonite was beginning to come apart. I felt the wall in that area and it was very soft. That amount of degradation does not happen overnight. More than likely it took many months for the problem to be noticeable. I took the trailer in to be repaired. After several months and nearly $16,000, it seemed to be fixed. Unfortunately, after a few months the same *****ish colored water puddle reappeared in the same spot. Back to Byerly. Another $350, but could find no problem. Next rainstorm, same puddle. Called Byerly and explained the issue. Was informed that the warrant is for 90 days only. So they would look at it, but it would cost. I think that paying over $16K to not fix a problem is a little too much. They were not willing to resolve the problem they were already paid to fix.

Mr. *********, thank you for your business.  To clarify what you have stated, you purchased a 2017 Keystone Laredo 298RL from Byerly RV on April 13, 2017. The vehicles limited manufacturer warranty extended for one year after date of purchase. As stated in the manufacturers manual, the manufacturer limits warranty on sealants and adjustments, including sealants around roof areas and windows, for 90 days.  After that time all sealant maintenance becomes the responsibility of the owner.

On July 6, 2023, 6 years after purchase, the vehicle was in for service at Byerly, and a roof reseal was recommended. You declined the recommended service from Byerly and stated that you would reseal the roof yourself.

On 2-28-24 (7 years after purchase) you returned to Byerly for service on a major leak that had affected the roof, rear wall, and floor. The repairs were extensive, required a complete rebuild of the rear wall and parts of the floor, and took over 140 repair hours. In order to assist you, since you were paying out of pocket, Byerly discounted our labor rate from $185 to $125 per hour. The total cost of the repair was $15,040.92. This total represented a reduced amount of over $9,000 thanks to the discounts we offered you on parts and labor.

On 5-30-24 you returned to Byerly to state issues with 12-volt electronic lights and appliances potentially related to repair of interior walls. Byerly honored our 90-day repair warranty and completed an additional 15 hours of labor to resolve the stated issues.

On 12-10-24 you returned to Byerly about a separate water issue. Upon inspection it was noted by the technician that the rear corner of the vehicle had sustained damage, potentially creating a new issue. Per the technician notes: While leak testing the unit the tech noticed that the customer clipped a tree with the passenger's side rear corner and is allowing water inside. Will need to r/I the upper corner molding piece then replace the black corner trim.  clean/reseal on both sides after installing. After that repair it was determined that there was an additional leak at the drivers side window of the vehicle. Drivers side window is leaking. Pulled shade and valance in order to remove the window.Cleaned / prepped the window then sealed around it once it was installed.Touched up a small spot on the roof sealant. Water tested two different times after the repair and couldnt locate any other leaks.

After repairs were completed, on 1-24-25 you returned and spoke to the Service Manager stating you were not happy that you had to pay for any additional repair despite the recent damage caused to their roof after the repair 11 months earlier.  *********** Manager agreed to refund you half of the cost of the December 2024 repair, a total refund of $352.57.

On 5-13-25 you called the ****************** stating that your vehicle still leaked from the February 2024 repair.  Our Ser ice Advisor offered to inspect the vehicle but stated that repairs are warrantied for 90 days.  This follows industry standards for maintenance of seals and sealants of roofs. Manufacturers do not warranty sealants for over 90 days on new vehicles.

Mr. *********, we are grateful for your business and have assisted you numerous times with RV repairs. Byerly has discounted repairs, refunded money to satisfy you, and honored our 90-day warranty on our repairs.  We are happy to evaluate your vehicle to determine what the current issue is, but we dont agree with your assumption that any issues are related to previous repair work considering you are beyond the timeframe for industry recommended maintenance and our stated repair warranty. We feel our good will and responsibility has been demonstrated. We have given you over $10,000 worth of consideration, honored the stated time periods of our warranty, and gone above and beyond to cover manufacturer and vendor repairs past their warranty expirations.

Thank you again for your business.
