I purchased a 2005 Chevy Colorado pickup truck on 04/26/2023. I drove it home. Friday I took it to get a inspection the truck failed safety and emission test. I returned back to the car lot and informed him of everything that was wrong with the truck. I tried to return the vehicle , He stated that he would not fix the repairs needed for the truck to pass the inspections. They cleared the codes on the truck before I purchased the truck. Some of the issues with the truck are, failed for left front tire rod, right front sway bar link, right rear outer edge of tire, and the emission it failed for code *****, serpentine belt has excessive cracking, rear brake badly rusted at line connection, rear transmission mount is worn, and transmission pan is leaking. Everything that I listed was confirmed by the Missouri State Highway patrol off of Koch Rd. I would like refund in the amount of $1000.00 and I would like to return the truck back to them.Business response

We have been doing business with the BBB for 18 years and we have never and would never tell a customer that we would not fix the problems they have with their vehicle. In fact, this consumer was told multiple times that we would fix the issues he brought to our attention, and he has not brought the truck in for us to fix. If the consumer brings the truck in we have no problem fixing it for him.Initial Complaint

This vehicle was purchased two months ago. The customer called with concerns after his purchase, so we had him bring it back and fixed the issues discussed. We have not heard from the customer since fixing the issues he brought to our attention. He only purchased a powertrain warranty with the vehicle, and it was never indicated to him that it would cover everything. If he is requesting a refund for the warranty, we can gladly submit the paperwork needed to do so.
Thank you,

Bought a car off them for over 18k. Never told us anything was wrong with it or that it hasn’t even had its emission or oil changes which I’m pretty sure is illegal in Mo. they’re supposed to have emissions unless they give you some sort of notice. That night we noticed the gauges didn’t work after trying to add fuel and the check engine light came on. This place tryed to blame us for a blown engine by saying we ran up the mileage when there’s a whole paper trail to them proving all of the events that occurred one after the other right before it actually blew out. Including a photo on day 2 that proves their loan papers gave the incorrect mileage count. These people don’t deserve to survive in this world if they’re trying to screw others like this! Then our loan people got them to take care of the problem and pick it up and fix it and they may have made it worse instead. The guy who does my oil changed said there’s now antifreeze in my oil because it was somehow at 15quarts instead of the 7 he put in beginning of July.Business response

There was nothing wrong with the vehicle when they purchased it. All paperwork was gone over in detail with them including the mileage and all paperwork/contract was signed by both buyer and co-buyer. They refused the extended warranty which only gave them a 30 day 50/50 powertrain parts & labor warranty from the dealer. When they called & emailed about the issues they had, we asked them repeatedly to bring the vehicle in for us to look at and they again refused to do so and continued to try to "fix" it themselves making things worse than they were from the time of the original complaint. We finally agreed to pay for and tow the vehicle back to us. When we received the vehicle it was completely trashed inside and out, which we have photo documentation of, and it had too much oil in it before we even touched it. Since their last complaint we have offered to extend the 30 day 50/50 warranty to help pay for the motor repairs if we received their portion up front. We have had no communication of accepting this offer, only more threatening emails blaming us for all the damage done to the vehicle. Now, that they continue to threaten us and try to tarnish our good name through all avenues possible, we are no longer offering the warranty. We are very sorry that it has come to this b/c we always try our best to help everyone in any situation if possible.Initial Complaint

On April 30th we purchased a car for 18,999$ with Two car guys. On day one we realized the truck had serious issues that were not disclosed. gauge issues, fuel issues, and even a slow caliper leak that caused rusting and the rotors to crack on may 7th. On day 1 we noticed the gauges when we went to fill up and it stayed at a half tank. That night check engine light came on we talked to a Sam on the 2nd. She said bring it up, then we said no that’s too far it’s got some issues we’ll try to figure it out. May 10th I email Lora and let her know the issues are still relevant and she again repeats the same thing “bring it up” even after again telling her we don’t think we can afford the gas because it’s sucking double for some reason. On the 12th I say well we will tow this car to you but we want our money back and money back in repairs. She said we couldn’t do that. Fast forward to today the same issues are still there. We could not figure it out even after changing sensors and oil etc…btw the oil was straight sludge with like a sandy texture. & the car just got worse and worse. We tried asking about emissions. Which is REQUIRED IN MO, unless told. Doesn’t have emissions and they started ignoring us after that. So we talked to the people through our loan they convinced em to come tow it. Which should’ve been offered before. they came here and pulled it out in park according to my neighbor who watched them from the window while we weren’t around. They then email me to tell me that we caused the issues that started on day one & now it’s apparently wrecked (we have full cov WASNT us) &also since we put some 18s on it to fix the rim rust while it wasn’t running that we ‘caused mechanical damage and not because they dragged it in park… therefore they aren’t required to fix ANY of it. They said when we changed their sludge we apparently “overfilled” it &this is what caused ALL of the engine and gauges and fuel issues. &now they aren’t responding OR bringing my truck back.Business response

Original purchase date was April 28th, they refused an extended warranty so we offer a 30 day 50/50 powertrain warranty. From the very first phone call and email we asked the customer repeatedly to bring the vehicle in so we could try to fix any problems. They never did bring the vehicle in or have it towed back to us for us to look at and diagnose the problem, they continued to try to fix it themselves and send us very vulgar emails. After telling us they weren't able to drive it at all we then paid to have the vehicle towed back to our store. At that point we discovered that the vehicle had in fact been driven 7,100 miles since the purchase date, it was trashed inside and out and severely abused. It had been wrecked with body damage, had 2 front tires replaced with smaller sized tires than the other two on the back, and had 3 qts too much oil showing on the dip stick. When the vehicle showed up in the condition it was in (which we have photo documentation of), we weren't sure that there was anything we could possibly do to help fix it. When we let the customer know about the issues we saw they continued to send us very vulgar emails, threatening us repeatedly so we at that point had to stop responding.
The vehicle is out of the warranty period but we can offer the 50/50 powertrain warranty if paid up front or we can tow their truck back to their home.
Sincerely,

Complaint: ********
I am rejecting this response because:I repeatedly let you guys know the truck could not be driven that far. Not once did you guys ask to help tow. Actually as far as all the messages go, you guys came up with no workarounds. You deliberately shrugged off the issue hoping to ride it out. we fought to fix the issue anyway we could. It’s clear we were the only ones coming up with anything. I said I’m not paying an extra 1500$ for a truck that does not run properly when Lora said she would handle a part of the taxes to cover the work we already put in. We attempted to fix the issue and it did not work.
If any damage is actually on us we never asked you to fix that.(which I’m totally unsure about since we haven’t seen it since and there is proof from my neighbor you pulled it in park) We only asked you to fix what has been occurring since day one! Because Attempts have been made and the problem still exists making the car worse. There’s not much we can do about that because we’re puzzled now.
We’ve changed parts to no avail just because it did not work. I absolutely positively will not be giving a dime more for this lemon of a vehicle that hasn’t worked since the night we bought it. In no way should a car stop driving after a few weeks! That’s insane. Doesn’t matter what you say we did in a night it still should have ran. The exact same errors keep reoccurring since day 1.we are tired of the excuses. The truck is just fine as far as body damage. We have pictures of it before it left as well as on day 2.
Also the truck has new rims here waiting to be put on it.
its also important to note that according to my loan agreement we had 30 days. We told her it did not run on day 12 and wanted to return it. She said we could not. That was a lie. The simple fact exists that we couldn’t even tow it that far on our own. I made like 600$ a week and my boyfriend hasn’t been able to work because of the errors causing it to not run correctly during a time of gas price increases. This truck has been nothing but an extreme burden since day two and we’ve repeatedly told you that and you cannot deny it.
We asked for a truck that ran and could get me back and forth to work and also tow our camper. We did not get what we asked for, period. Also the truck is missing it’s emissions according to state law, this was an illegal sale. We were not exempt just because we came from Illinois.
Sincerely,
