4 starsGood company on the whole thus far. My biggest complaint is that when I call into claims there can be a long wait on the phone.Athena Auto Protection

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your feedback with us. Were glad to hear youve had a good overall experience, and we also appreciate you bringing up the wait times youve experienced when calling into claims.
We want to clarify that while we are your broker, the claims process is administered by a separate company that handles those calls directly. That said, we are actively working with their team to help reduce hold times and improve the overall customer experience.
Your input is very valuable to us, and we truly appreciate you letting us know. Feedback like yours helps us continue to push for improvements and better serve our customers.Review fromSarah R

1 starThis is a scamming company that sent me a scam letter about my car in the mail, with the appearance that it came from ****** officially, with urgent time sensitive bold warnings that the factory warranty on a car that I bought (that they should have no idea about) has expired. I was able to tell that it was a scam because I know that it is not true. But everyone should be aware that these are scammers! No idea how they have an A+ rating from ************* Business. Very distressing and makes me not trust BBB. The return address listed my car in bold at the top with Official Business underneath and penalty for private use $300 underneath that. At first glance, it all looked very official. Scary stuff.Athena Auto Protection

Thank you for sharing your feedback.
We take these concerns seriously and want to assure you that the mailer you received was an official communication from our company, which provides optional extended vehicle protection plans after the manufacturers warranty expires. We are not affiliated with ****** or any vehicle manufacturer, and our materials disclose this clearly.
Our intent is to give vehicle owners the opportunity to consider extended coverage before unexpected repair costs occur never to cause alarm. We regret if the format of the notice led to any misunderstanding. The $300 penalty for private use wording you referenced is part of U.S. postal regulations, not a company fee or policy.
In some cases, contact information is obtained from publicly or commercially available records, which may explain how you were identified. If you prefer not to receive future notices, we will gladly remove you from our mailing list immediately upon request.
We appreciate the opportunity to address your concerns directly and welcome you to contact us at the phone number listed in the letter so we can assist you further.Review fromAndy P

1 starMy mother received a very misleading piece of mail that stated her warranty was about to expire and she should contact a 1(800) phone number to rectify the issue. She was understandably distraught as she was under the impression that she had manufacturer warranties. I am confused as to how this obviously shady company is able to claim that she has an expiring warranty with Athena if she has never contacted or expressed any kind of interest in their services. I also noticed that the mailer was purposely laid out to appear as if it was sent by a dealership. The only print indicating this was a scam was the smallest font at the bottom edge of the mailer. A quick ****** search was enough to verify the underhanded tactics this company employs, and just lightly skimming the complaints listed here demonstrates quite clearly the disregard Athena has for the peoples it harasses with phone calls and mailers. I am not sure how Athena was able to obtain my mothers full name, address, and make and model of her vehicle. I will attempt the process of having her information removed from their systems, but I am certain the harassment will continue. I will soon be forced to take legal action to protect my mother.Athena Auto Protection

Dear **** *****,
We are sorry to hear about your concerns and appreciate the opportunity to clarify. The mail piece your mother received was not a scam, it was an offer to obtain long-term vehicle protection coverage from Athena Auto Protection, which partners with leading third-party administrators.
The piece clearly states, in the disclosure at the bottom, that:
Athena Protection is an independent nationwide company marketing vehicle service contracts on behalf of leading third party administrators. Athena Protection is not affiliated with any auto dealer or manufacturer.
We do not claim to be your mothers manufacturer, dealer, or to represent them, and the purpose of the letter is to provide information about an available coverage option should she wish to extend protection beyond her factory warranty.
We also want to be clear that Athena Auto Protection does not make outbound phone calls to individuals who are not our current customers. Your mother has not been called by us. She received one piece of mail only, and no further contact will be made unless she requests information.
If you or your mother would like her name and vehicle information removed from future marketing lists, we are happy to assist immediately. Please contact me personally so I process the removal promptly.
We understand that mailers of this nature can cause concern, and we are committed to being transparent about who we are, what we offer, and how we communicate.

1 starThis business only announces itself at the small print at the bottom of the mail out. They are basically trying to coerce you into buying aftermarket insurance by telling you that your car, it might be in jeopardy.Athena Auto Protection

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We understand that marketing materials can sometimes be interpreted in different ways, and we want to clarify a few important points.
Our mail pieces are fully compliant with all industry regulations and disclosure requirements. The name of our business, along with all legally required information, is clearly stated on the mailer, including in the body and at the bottom, as noted in your review.
We’re unsure what specifically caused the concern, as the mail piece outlines its purpose: to inform recipients of available vehicle service protection options. It is not intended to pressure or mislead, but rather to present coverage opportunities for consideration.
That said, we take all feedback seriously. If you would like to be removed from future mailings or discuss this further, we’re happy to help directly.Review fromJames S

1 starThis company continues to send me deceiving and incorrect emails concerning my vehicle alleging "your factory warrant has expired". My factory warranty has not expired and the nonstop mailings are absolutely improper.Athena Auto Protection
Date: 06/10/2025
Thank you for your feedback. We take all concerns seriously and appreciate the opportunity to respond.
We would like to clarify that we do not send emails as part of our communication process. All outreach is conducted via standard mail, and we strive to ensure the accuracy and relevance of that correspondence.
Upon reviewing our records, we have promptly removed your name from our mailing list, as requested. Additionally, our records indicate that the vehicle in question is a 2021 model. Given typical factory warranty terms, this would suggest that the original manufacturers coverage may have expired or be nearing expiration, which is why you may have received a notice from us.
We understand how such mailings can be frustrating, and its never our intention to cause concern or confusion. Please rest assured that no further correspondence will be sent to your address.Review fromRegina B

Date: 04/21/2025
Thank you for bringing this concern to our attention.
We are sincerely sorry to hear that the customer felt their cancellation experience was difficult or unprofessional. At Athena Protection, we take customer service and respectful communication very seriously, and we do not tolerate any form of rudeness or belittling language from our representatives.
We have reviewed the call recordings related to this account and did not find any instances where the customer was called crazy or disrespected. Our representatives are trained to confirm cancellation requests and explain options that may be available to customers experiencing financial hardship, but they are also instructed to remain courteous and professional at all times.
In this case, the customers plan was successfully canceled, and no further charges have been applied. While our process typically includes verification steps to ensure the request is valid and authorized, we regret if this felt excessive or frustrating.
We welcome the opportunity to improve and take all feedback seriously. If the customer has any additional concerns or would like to discuss this matter further, they are welcome to reach out directly to our team.
Sincerely,
