    Columbia Insurance Group Insurance Complaint
    I cancelled my policy with Columbia Insurance group on 07/13/2022. The policy ***** ***** had been renewed on 05/04/22 with a monthly premium of 868.16. This amounts to 10417.92 for the year, or 28.54 per day. The insured period since the renewal was 71 days. This amounts to 2026.50. There were three direct transfers from my bank account: 5/6, 6/6, and 7/6, for a total of 2604.48. I had overpaid Columbia 577.98. Columbia sent me an account statement dated 8/15/22 that claimed I still owed them 240.14 with no other explanation other than a prior balance and activity statement that was neither explained in detail nor did it make sense. I complained to the Nebraska Insurance Department and was ultimately informed that Columbia complied with the law. The investigator was either unwilling or unable to explain the discrepancy. His return letter indicated that he had additional information and/or documentation that he refused to send me because they were in his words CONFIDENTIAL. I went to the insurance agent, ********* ****, and requested a detailed accounting of this matter and have not received any answer as of this date. The inference is that I have no need- to- know what principles were applied in this case and I should just Shut-UP and Pay. I think this is wrong on the part of the insurance investigator and the insurance company and the agent should be required to provide a timely and concise accounting. All I ever wanted in this matter and still expect is the 577.98 ,I overpaid, short of a complete and detailed explanation as to why the amount is different.

    This matter has been previously filed with the Nebraska Department of Insurance.  The Department has closed the matter finding no fault on behalf of Columbia Insurance Group.  We have communicated with the complainant multiple times regarding this matter.  We consider the matter closed.  We value our customers and are sorry that the resolution does not feel satisfactory to the complainant.  Please contact Attorney ****** **** or our Customer Service Manager ********* ******* if you need more information.
