On the last part of March 2022, I contacted Hawke’s Reconstruction, that was recommended through ******* ****, about an estimate on a whirlpool tub install and cabinet painting. He came over and gave me an estimate of $3070, which was $1870 for the tub install and $1200 for painting of cabinets. We agreed on it and he started that next week. He said he would go ahead and paint the cabinets and give me time to go ahead and check out the tubs and see how much of a hassle that was going to be. He had me pay him $2000.80 upfront before he even started the project. While he was painting the cabinets, I decided against doing the tub install because it was going to be a while before the tub got in and it was looking like it may not fit right and they would have to be some other carpentry work done and I just didn’t want to mess with it and the extra expense. I told him I decided against doing the tub and he said that was totally fine and we would just proceed with the cabinets. I then asked him how I would be refunded the money for the tub install, which would be $2000.80 minus the $1200 for the cabinet painting, equaling $800.80. he told me no problem, just write a letter stating that I canceled the tub install and I requested a refund and then sign and date it and he would give it to his accountant, who would issue me a check within 5 to 7 Business days. That’s the agreement we had and then when he finished up on the cabinets and was ready to leave for the final time, I again asked him for the refund and gave him the letter to give to the accountant. I never heard from him for about three weeks, so I decided to text him approximately May 1 and he said he would check with the accountant. I checked back the next week and he said they would mail it out that following Monday. I check back in another week and he says his accountant has stolen everything out of his account and left the area.This was approximately May 6. Now he is not returning any text messages or anything
