If zero stars were an option thats what I would award. The eye doctor was great the first year but the billing folks were a big hot mess. Finally I drove over to the office and paid my balance which I truly didnt owe because I have two policies for eye coverage. Ok paid anyway - all good? Nope. The office staff neglected to communicate with the ****************** nor did they note my file. So I had to get my credit card company involved. This year more of the same trouble. I went in for an eye exam which didnt happen because it was apparent I needed cataract procedure. They referred me to a surgeon who was out of network and quoted $10,000 per eye for the lens they recommend. Outrageous. Referral to no one else. My insurance company was billed and paid (for an eye exam that didnt happen). No new Rx do I had to start over with finding yet another eye doctor (which I did and had the surgery. New Rx. New glasses. No contacts. No billing hassles. Very happy customer. But ********************** is still billing me. And Im not paying. They need to get their act together.

We apologize for the frustration that this patient has experienced. The level of cataracts that a patient has can change from year to year, meaning that a patient might come in for an exam and the cataracts that they have are not ready for surgery while the following year the cataracts have progressed to a point where removal is the best course of action. It is always our primary goal to refer patients to providers who we feel will best treat them. While we do our best to refer patients to in network doctors, contracts change annually and it is quite possible that an outside provider who is not with our company no longer accepts an insurance they formerly did. This review will be passed to the District Manager and Office Manager of the location who can provide the patient with documentation of former examinations at her request. We thank this patient for her feedback and encourage her to reach out to the location she visited with additional questions.

I went to *********** Clarkson ******** on 10/09/2023 they were hassling me about me owing $23.00 before I could have the eye exam. I paid the bill. I finally seen Dr. and he did a eye exam. He said that he could see why my eyes were bad. I initially went for a statement for my job. He recommended surgery. He wanted me to sign a paper for surgery to clean the cataract, it seemed that he was forcing the issue of me signing papers for my insurance. I am having issues driving at night for my job. He never signed the document stated that I am having issues with driving at night. He expressed how bad my eyes were and that I could potential kill someone.

We apologize for the issue this patient had and will absolutely look into it. Clarkson Eyecare is comprised of optometrists who treat the whole health of the eye and who work closely with local opthalmologists who schedule and perform surgeries. We will absolutely investigate this patient encounter and provide coaching to those involved. We thank this patient for their feedback.

OMG. Never buy eyeglasses there. I was charged for one pair of glasses ****** then they sent me another bill for ******. When I pay the 349 I was told that was going to be the only amount I will pay for my glasses. Beside that went like three times because the measurements for my progressive lenses doesnt work. At the end they told me the frame was too big, that I need to change my frame. An employee since the first day help me to choose my frame. She told me the frame was perfect, took the measures and I paid. NEVER EVER AGAIN. I use to buy them online, paid much much LESS. All that I send is the prescription, and never ever had any problem with anything. I do that for about 7 years and to buy it there. Surprise.. OMG. Insane.Besides I have order bigger frames than that one, with progressive lenses and NO problems. The only good thing was the doctor. The personal are nice, bought the company think they are selling gold. But thank you. Next year I will return to my online. I try but you loose.

We apologize for the frustration this patient has experienced. We are a company that takes pride in the product that we offer to our patients and do everything that we can to ensure that the patient has a product that works for them and that they are happy with, as well as an experience that we stand behind. Because we bill insurance after the patient's transaction and not during, this can sometimes lead to a bill to the patient after the insurance claim processes. Likewise, if insurance processes the claim and we have billed the patient too much in error, the patient would get a refund. It appears that this patient has contacted our billing department who verified that the claim has been processed correctly by the patient's insurance company. If the patient has further questions, we are happy to reach back out to them and explain in accordance to the Explanation of Payment that the patient and our company both received. Additionally, someone from the office will be in contact regarding the patient's glasses as it seems that there may be some product satisfaction issues that we can help address.,

Not recommend! The personal in ******, **** are not professional! The management extremely rude! When I just asked simple questions how we can fix my glasses frame that I purchased a couple months ago, they told me I need to buy insurance! I need to spend my money again, Bec they are selling poor quality frames?! After couples months the color of the glasses frame lost color! And when I asked to speak with somebody upper they told me to get out. They was nice when I was buying glasses, and then extremely rude when I ask to fix. They dont have any responsibilities, any respect to customers! Be aware and dont go there!Definitely Will complain to upper management!Regretting, I did not read the reviews earlier!

We apologize for the experience this patient had. Unfortunately without the extended warranty that we offer for our product the manufacturer's warranty only lasts for ********************************************************************** the middle of March 2023. We will absolutely provide feedback regarding the staff's interaction with this patient to the Operations leader of this location.

I recently visited the ***** location for an eye exam and new glasses. I don't have vision insurance and the experience cost me over $500 for two pair of glasses, one clear and one sunglasses. The part of the transaction that was so disturbing was the fact that they added $50 onto my total bill for the "eye wear protection plan". I didn't notice that added charge until I got home and I promptly called the store and complained. The person I spoke to finally agreed to refund my $50 after numerous attempts to sell the plan to me. Clarkson did not inform me in any way that they were adding this charge to my already large bill and they didn't bother to ask me if I wanted it and give me the opportunity to decline it when I was picking out my frames. I picked the cheapest frames that were available since their other fees were so outrageous. That was my one and only visit to that store. I wonder how many people have had this charge added onto their bill and didn't notice it.My neighbor got new glasses at the same location and after three unsuccessful trips to get the proper fit she ended up going to another optical business to get her glasses adjusted so she could comfortably wear them.

We apologize that this charge was not more thoroughly explained to you at the time of service. All of our opticians are trained to explaine the breakdown of lenses and warranties to patients before the sale is finalized to address any concerns with the patient. Thank you for this feedback as it is a training opportunity for the optician who worked with you.

I had to pay $109.84 for an eye examination rather than pay $0 because the ******* office of Clarkson Eyecare sent the cost of my examination to my medical insurer, ******************* rather than to my vision insurer, VSP ************ My vision insurer pays the full cost of an annual eye examination. I tried to get Clarkson to send the bill to VSP, but they refused. They said that since I had mild cataracts (not bad enough for surgery), I had a medical condition that made them send the bill to ****************** rather than to VSP.When I complained, they said that their consent to treat form specified that they would bill my health insurance for any medical issues. I had assumed that my vision insurer would be billed for the eye exam and that any other medical costs would be sent to my health insurer. In addition, no one reads a consent to treat form. I am 76 years old, so they knew going in that it was likely that I have mild cataracts and so they would likely not send the bill for the eye examination to VSP. If Clarkson had told me about their policy not to use VSP, I would have gone somewhere else for an eye examination.I wonder why Clarkson refused to send the bill for my eye examination to VSP. All insurance companies negotiate a reduction in the cost of a medical procedure. That makes me wonder if VSP would have paid Clarkson less than I did for the eye examination. To top all of this off, I never could get an itemized bill. Their "iitemized" bill had only gross amounts. It was only when I got a copy of the claim breakdown from ****************** did I learn the cost of the eye examination and the cost of the other procedures. I will never use Clarkson Eyecare again.

We apologize for the frustration this patient had regarding the billing process for his exam. We provide comprehensive eye exams to our patients which means that in addition to refractions for glasses which only corrects how the patient sees, we also treat the health of the eye. Unfortunately this patient has a primary and a secondary medical diagnosis code on his exam rendering a routine vision exam null in void. If we were to omit the medical codes from his exam and only bill the routine code to the patient's vision insurance, this would result in insurance fraud. Likewise, if we were to bill the patient's medical codes to his routine vision provider which is VSP as is indicated in the complaint by the patient, VSP would deny his claim entirely as a non-covered service. We understand the frustration this patient has regarding an unexpected bill, however we are mandated by federal and ethical laws regarding the billing of his claim. If the patient has further concerns, we encourage him to reach out to VSP (his vision provider) or our corporate offices at **************** and we will be happy to continue to work with him.

Incompetent, stupid, lying, untrained customer service. I have been trying for over a month to get my contact lens prescription changed. I still cant get glasses made because it requires the optometrist to make a small change to the prescription. Impossible. I am out of contact lenses now and my glasses are old. I will have to get my prescription from Clarkson, but I will go somewhere else for glasses and contacts. I wont return to Clarkson. Your business model and employees stink.

We understand and apologize for the frustation this patient has experienced. Unfortunatel it is not within the power of our staff to change a prescription that has been written by the doctor. Upon review of this patient' chart, it seems the patient was back in the location a few days following this review and that the office was able to help her. We thank this patient for the opportunity to help resolve her issue.

I did go into the store today and spoke to the manager. The prescription for the lenses had been resolved, but she was trying to tell me, again, for what was at least the 5th or 6th time, thst the prescription for the glasses couldnt be changed until the doctor approved it. I informed her that I had heard that for an entire month. It couldnt be that complicated! Another employee informed her that the doctor had signed off on the change I had requested. FinallyI was able to order glasses and contact lenses today. It should not have taken an entire month to get a very simple request approved. The only reason it was resolved today is because of the multiple complaints I made, and my demands to speak to a manager. The problem is not how you characterized it. Getting the doctor to approve the change only took a few minutes. Not an entire month. The problem is nobody seemed to know how to respond when it involved a minor wrinkle in their process. The employees dont care enough to go out of their way to figure out how to resolve the issue. They were content to keep telling me that someone would call me back, or get back to me after getting approval from the doctor, or someone besides who I was talking to could help me. And then they proceeded to forget all about it. I made st least 8 phone calls and visits to the store. Thats 7 too many. process.

I have been a patient at Clarkson Eyecare (previously ****** *************** in ******, ** for 6 years now, prior to the buyout. I went in for my annual eye exam and while shopping for a new pair of glasses, I requested my current *************** pair be adjusted. The tech came back and informed he had broken my glasses and they could not be repaired, mind you I paid over $400 for these glasses, and they were my ONLY pair. I was then informed I would have to pay for a replacement with a 50% discount - this was beyond unacceptable. I did not break the glasses in the first place, why should I have to pay anything? I was then blamed by the manager that it was my fault the glasses broke, and I would have to either pay for replacement frames or order contacts. I refused, I did not break them, and I was not paying to fix their accident. The manager finally agreed to put my lenses from the *************** frames into a cheap, comparable frame at $0 cost - I agreed. I got home and realized he did not even put the lenses in the frames correctly and now I cannot wear the glasses at all. My eyes are different powers and with the lenses in the incorrect sides, it causes major vision problems and severe migraines. I am now left without anything in order to see on a daily basis as I need my glasses to physically SEE. I have yet to receive any response after calling, leaving voicemails and emailing the office. This is beyond unprofessional and unacceptable. I will now be filing a formal complaint through corporate.

I would give no stars. This location consistently overbills. I have two insurances and continue coming out omf hundreds and dollars. It can not be correct and each time you have to do the legwork of reaching out to insurance to verify. These stores have several similar complaints and a poor rating. Someone needs to investigate and shut them down.
