I went to Geller Jewelers, ************************************************************** on 12/13/22 to get a new battery put in my wife's watch. It's water-resistant and I thought a jeweler had to secure the watch's seal when replacing the battery. Immediately after discussing this with the jeweler, he pressured me (doing a hard sale) on a pair of Diamond earrings stating that I could get all my Christmas shopping done in one stop for my wife. He said I could buy them at a discounted price and my Christmas shopping would be done. He pressured me so much I felt uncomfortable as did another customer in the shop observing the interaction. I finally agreed to the deal and told him I wasn't sure if my wife already had diamond earrings. He said he would give me a valuation of the earrings for $8k and only charge me $1899 (**** with tax). At no point did he say the earrings were non-returnable. The transaction was initiated: from high-pressured sales technique; as a Christmas gift (that most laypeople would assume is returnable); and, with the knowledge I wasn't certain my wife already had diamond earrings or would like them. Christmas came and I found out my wife already had diamond earrings. I went to the jewelers 12/28/22 to return the earrings. The same jeweler then pointed to a small sign behind the counter that reads "no returns"... he had to point to the sign for me to notice it; it was the first I became aware of this policy. He offered to exchange them for other merchandise but not refund my money. I went back to the store today, 12/29/22, to ask him to make an exception to their policy for me since: he didn't make me aware of the 'no return' policy during the transaction; it was a Christmas gift that most people would assume is returnable; that my initial goal coming to the store was to get a watch fixed, not buy jewelry; and, that there was no way for me to know if my wife would want them. He refused. I told him their policy should be stated clearly with every transaction.
