To:CFMoto Reference:WAR-2018-05 Purchased my 2020 CFMoto UForce 800 and it had been very reliable and good performing utility vehicle. In early August of 2023 I had to take it to the service department of my dealership. We had taken it riding and per their writeup from the technician: Unit was inspected in running condition, very loud knock. Inspected unit, found unit was low on oil, and what was left had water in it. Traced leak to backed out output shaft bolt. Tightened bolt, filled with new oil and ran engine, unit ran for one minute, popped, locked up and shut down. Would not restart, bore scope shows the cylinders were damaged and front piston was cracked. Engine requires tear down and rebuild or replacement. They indicated and printed off WAR-2018-05 and indicated this was the exact issue, yet my model wasnt in that recall. But in their opinion this is the very same issue where the factory did not torque the output shaft bolt to specifications leading to it to back out and allowing water inI feel CFMoto should be responsible for the repairs and that this should have had a broadened scope for the recall. I spoke to customer care in ********************** and they indicated to have the technician report to the CFMoto tech team. They did this and they stated it was not in that recall and they were not going to help.I called back and was told to write this email to indicate that something needs to be worked out and a discussion needs to happen on coming to an agreement and if there should be a good faith from CFMoto to cover the same issue, even if out of that particular WAR document. My hope is CFMoto will do the correct thing and except some responsibility for this costly repair. Cost of repairs that should have been under the recall to $5,536.24.I have given CFMoto very good marks online as well as my nephew has bought 2 of them based on my recommendations ( CForce and ZForce purchases ) as well as friends that have purchased 2 of them on my recommendations.

We have reviewed this case from the records that are available to us. No claim was ever formally submitted into our system. The dealer may have talked to our Tech team on the phone but they never put in a claim. This unit is getting close to four years old. The warranty is a one-year warranty. The bulletin referred to is from the 2017 and 2018 model years. The process that was leading to that defect in 2017/18 was corrected in 2018 and all years subsequent. We watch claims trends and there was no continuing trend with that failure after 2018. It was not necessary or appropriate to continue the bulletin past 2018. If the oil level drops to a certain level, that unit is equipped with an oil level warning on the dashboard. That would have been activated for some amount of time, letting you know to stop operating the vehicle until the warning light is resolved. In the owner's manual, part of the pre-ride check is to confirm the oil level is appropriate as critical failures can happen with inadequate lubrication. This far after the expiration of the warranty together with the information above, warranty coverage is not appropriate. It's certainly unfortunate that this occurred and we know that is very frustrating.
