On October 23, 2024, the business entered into a Consent Order with the Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry (DLI). The Consent Order settles allegations that the business violated Minn. Stat. 326B.082, subd. 11 (b)(5)(6)(8)(9); 326B.809; and 326B.84 (2)(4)(5)(14)(15)(16) (2022). Under terms of the Order, the business agreed to be prohibited from offering a Minnesota consumer, whose home repairs are paid with insurance, any goods, services or bonus which would directly or indirectly pay the consumer's insurance deductible; including offering referral credits, sign credit or any other reimbursement, compensation or benefit. The business also agreed to ensure that all contracts and change orders are in writing; all building permits are obtained before a project begins and permits are posted at the job site. The business further agreed to provide reasonable supervision to all employees, subcontractors and sales persons and to ensure that all future communications with DLI are complete.
The business will also pay $10,000.00 of a $20,000.00 fine from the September 2022 Consent Order and agreed to an additional $10,000.00, with that full balance stayed on the condition that they fully comply with the terms of the Order and have no future violations of any laws, rules or orders under DLI authority.
