We had a popcorn removal/knockdown ceiling done in 4 rooms. It looked beautiful at the beginning BUT that is just the beginning of the story.it DID NOT LAST. After 1 years, our ceiling began to blister/separate/crack/peel from the sheetrock starting in just a couple of areas. These areas continued to increase, eventually growing to 20 plus spots in all 4 rooms! It became apparent that these were not merely isolated "patchable" areas - we were in the middle of an overall ceiling adherence failure. We needed to have the ceiling redone. What caused this? The Owner/Contractor, and an insulation company, saw no signs of attic moisture or water stains. The Owner/Contractor told us product breakdown was not a cause. The Owner/Contractor denied workmanship lapses, saying adhesion problems would have appeared within 4 - 5 days after project. For others opinions, we consulted with 2 drywall contractors. The underside of the loose ceiling portions felt dusty as well as the sheetrock. They felt the sheetrock was not cleaned well after popcorn removal. This is a necessary step for lasting adhesion. They believe in a 24 hour drying time which did not occur. The extraordinary hot/humid weather may have increased this need even more. They concluded that workmanship lapses were the cause of the ceiling adhesion failure. They explained why this happened over time, versus within 4-5 days.Even after hearing these outside opinions, the Owner/Contractor:- Ended up taking NO responsibility for the failure of the ceiling.- Would not consider spliting the cost in half with us (as a good faith compromise). Dont be fooled by fancy website words and pleasant first impressions. On the Home Drywall and Paint website it states, our most valued asset is a satisfied customer. We understand that quality work leads to referrals and our customer satisfaction is our number one priority. Ultimately, Home Drywall and Paint did not back up these words in any way for a job done poorly.

This project was done 3 years ago, not a year and a half. We unfortunately dont have a warranty on re sprays as mentioned in my contract. This happens because of moisture/humidity in the home. Sorry, but how do I how much humidity is in your house after we are gone. We have already been to this house on a ceiling crack repair. Cracks also happen when the house moves ever so slightly. ********* ******* can dry out houses which makes lumber shrink and expand.

So many inaccuracies in the owner/contractor reply. Let me correct the record so consumers can see more clearly. Yes, we had a small, thin-lined crack show up across *********** surface nine months after our ceiling was done. The contractor noted this crack upon popcorn removal. Knockdown was applied on top, but the thin crack reemerged. We paid Home Drywall to cosmetically cover up this crack (knowing this was caused from common settling in a 35 year old home). We also knew the crack could come back and that would not be Home Drywalls fault. This crack has NOTHING TO DO with our review situation and therefore there was no need for the owner to divert and bring it up. So what is our review ACTUALLY about? ...a majorly failed ceiling due to poor workmanship (revisit the review for specifics as well as outside contractor opinions ). Are these areas due to movement/settling as the owner implies? No, these are not settling, straight-line cracks as the one we experienced in our doorway. Picture a small blister, eventually getting larger, to the point where it starts to peel, then separates from the ceiling. This is what our 20 + unsightly areas looked like. What about that humidity and dryness the owner speaks about? No attic moisture was seen. There were no water stains. Central air is on in hot, humid conditions. A whole house humidifier, optimally set, is used in the heating season. Also consider thiswe had a popcorn ceiling for 30 plus years that managed to stay attached. Our indoor air quality has always been consistent. Why in the world would a new knockdown ceiling start falling off after only 1 years? Our ceiling fiasco was the result of, as stated earlier, poor workmanship by Home Drywall and Paint even though this may not happen on every knockdown ceiling Home Drywall and Paint does, could it happen to yours? In addition, many contractors, separate from the warranty, because of their reputation, would want to make things right. We unfortunately are out $3000 plus.
