I'm disabled on SSI, limited income with health concerns.I need help paying bill. Reached out to lakes and pines for help, I was blessed with their help paying the bill. In their process of this payment ....numerous calls informing company AND confirm that lakes n pines were paying bill, they cut me off...disconnected. Now power company wants deposit fee of $450!! Stating they get the amount to charge...by double the amount of your average bill in past year. And disconnect fee AND reconnect fee....wow.I've been a customer for over 25 years and this is how their customers are treated! You know, if I had to go humble myself to get help to pay the bill....how do they seriously expect me to come up with that ridiculous amount??!!I get a fee, but really....that sure seems like gouging a bit there. It should of never been disconnected in first place...calls went on for 2 weeks.Makes me sick that our society has become....kick those already down and struggling....instead of being reasonable!! With so many options in our world, why are we forced to only have 1 electric company to go through????I would NEVER recommend their business practices!Generator, solar panels....we need more of you!!

      Business Response

      Date: 09/06/2022

The last payment made by the member was *** 10th,2022. He called on 7/06 stating Energy Assistance was paying, we gave him until 7/19 to work with assistance to get a guarantee. He was still listed as incomplete.

Based on the notes on this account, it looks like we watched this account waiting for something to change in eheat. On 7/20 we saw he was approved for funds and called the member to let him know and discuss the reconnect. We left a message. He called back later to reconnect. Energy Assistance made a promise to pay the full amount to get reconnected including the fees he mentioned. This was all over a month ago and he has not made a personal payment since. Also, Energy Assistance rescinded the promise to pay the crisis amount of $511 on 8/22, it was an error on their part. We did not reconnect the member because of this. The balance on his account is currently $653.25.

This is not being advertised by us or the state, but he should be one of the members to also received the arrears paydown they are processing later this week and early next week. We do not know how much each member will receive.
