We rented from them for 21 months. HUGE mistake!! They don’t take maintenance or safety seriously. The apartment had not been cleaned before we moved in, the fridge had moldy food, the stove was dirty, the countertops had not been wiped off, the tub had crusty buildups, and the floors weren’t cleaned. Outlets were open with missing faceplates. Trim and doors were completely gone. Cupboards were loose, I used a rod to prop them up. Faucets dripped and the toilet ran constantly. Nineteen months in, maintenance finally came to “fix” the toilet and the leaking was worse after they had been there. Windows leaked in rain storms and ice built up and froze the shades in place in the winter. Tar leached through the thin gray painted walls from the tenant before us. We scrubbed them every two weeks so we could breathe somewhat. There was a man across the hallway that would stand in his doorway and walk the halls completely naked. Management thought this was funny. It needed to be addressed but they refused to do anything. There were bugs that came up from the floors and caused severe allergic rash reactions when they bite. Again, management refused to do anything about them. There were 4 emergency rooms visits because of the smoking in the building, management didn’t do anything about that. There are signs posted but no enforcement. Noise rules or quiet time is not respected. We could identify the songs played not just a thumping base in the middle of the night. Laundry facilities are often jammed or broken and unusable. We didn’t feel comfortable inviting family or friends over to visit. This was a toxic environment. Health and safety were not taken seriously and management either ignored or laughed at concerns expressed. If the building was actually inspected, I would question its ability to be rented.

Joyce, I have reviewed your account and it appears that most of these issues were never reported to Management and the others are greatly exaggerated. I suspect that the reason for this inflated negative review is because you only provided us with 5 days notice to move-out and have been charged fees for providing improper notice. The maintenance requests we have from you was for your toilet, windows, and tub. In each case, the repair was completed within 2 weeks of the maintenance request being created. There are no past maintenance requests for laundry, pests, cupboards, or other issues. We are aware of your complaints of tenants smoking in the hallways and management staff inspected the property frequently, sometimes within a couple hours of your complaint. We have never seen or smelled any smoke in the hallways or from neighboring units. We are also aware of your previous neighbor, whom was elderly and had dementia. As soon as we began receiving complaints about his conduct we took action to have him moved to place that was a better fit. This process was very difficult and actually came at a pretty great financial cost to the property owner. The property was and continues to be a clean and quiet property. Many tenants have been there for many years, even having friends and family members apply for units that come available.

We actually met in person with management on eight separate occasions after we had moved in. There were many more emails and phone calls. It wasn’t until March of 2021, 17 months after first drawing attention to issues with management, that anything was attempted with the leaking water. As for the “windows, tub, and cabinets” that are admitted to, they are still classified as “in progress” three months later. In reality, the toilet was the only thing that was attempted by maintenance, unsuccessful.
