I was contacted in Oct/2023 by Analytics Consulting LLC. They told me I had monies that were sent to me in 2017 because of a class action lawsuit against **************** that was filed by the ************************* They went on to say that a check was previously mailed to me but never cashed and that they were trying to close the books on the case and were contacting all check recipients one last time. They asked me to provide an updated address so that they could send this check to me again. I provided my updated address after visiting the FTC's website and verifying the case was legit. I was told it would take six weeks to three months to receive my check. I I did not receive anything. I began calling ******************* to find out what happens when monies are unclaimed in situations concerning the **** I was told those monies are forwarded to the US Treasury where they sit for a period of time and can be claimed by applicable parties. I also have began conversations with previous students of ***** who were contacted by the same company, told the same story and gave up the same address information. They too were informed that they would receive a check within the same timeframe and they too have not received anything. I believe Analytics Consulting is somehow going back to the US Treasury and submitting claims on these funds that they are keeping for themselves while consistently telling the people who have rightful claims to these funds, that the check is in the mail.

Analytics specializes in the administration of settlements and similar programs involving notification, contact centers, claims processing, and fund distribution. A check was mailed to you on May 8 and should have been received by now.

Regarding the other comments, all of Analytics services are provided under the direct supervision or direction of a Court or the Government.  Any suggestion that Analytics Consulting is somehow going back to the US Treasury and submitting claims on these funds that they are keeping for themselves is categorically false.  Any other actions identified in the complaint are outside the scope of Analytics; agreed upon services.

Analytics is a neutral, third-party administrator engaged to carry out certain administrative aspects of this settlement and does not have the authority to act outside of its terms.

Analytics did not make a settlement disbursement error and all staff communicated professionally and courteously with the complainant despite repeated abusive conduct by the complainant.

The complainant was advised by our staff to use an ACH payment, and she refused.  She insisted on Venmo.  We informed the complainant that ***** has security controls to prevent fraud associated with large payments, and that she must contact ***** in advance and notify them that a large payment would be incoming.  She failed to do so.

Analytics transferred her funds to ***** (as demanded by the complaintant), who then attempted to deposit them into her account.  Because she failed to notify Venmo that a large payment would be received, the payment was blocked before it hit her account.

********************** had to wait until funds were returned from *****, which has occurred.  A check was issued and sent via ***** (with a signature required), and delivery has already been confirmed.

    This issue is closed.

Analytics was responsible for the administration side of the class action lawsuit vs Amazon. Our class had won the settlement and I was sent a check for the issues Amazon caused during my employment at Amazon. It was a significant amount of money for me but pennies compared to what the 3 entities involved in this case are worth. I was homeless when the checks were sent out. After cleaning up my life enough to find a place of residence, my mail was forwarded to me. I opened a piece of mail containing the check in the amount of $2600. I was elated as Ive been digging myself out of a hole financially ever since being homeless. It was a life-changing moment for me.After looking at the check, I noticed it had expired. But since the state of my residence has an unclaimed property division, I figured the money belonged to me and Id find it there. But I was shocked it wasnt there. So I called **************** The issuer of the check and they referred me to Analytics. They said the money was gone and there is nothing they can do about it. I told them I could prove of my homeless situation when the checks were sent and they callously sent me away without any answers as to what happened to the money that belonged to me. They wont respond to emails or phone calls about my situation. I have no doubt they have a way to make this situation right and are just too lazy or apathetic towards people to do anything about it. Im not done fighting for my money. There is no excuse for the 3 entities involved to take money from a homeless person and either keep it or enrich someone else with it. There were options available for them to handle situations like mine. One being the unclaimed property division within my state.

Analytics is in receipt of complaint ******** which relates to a settlement regarding Amazon. Analytics specializes in the administration of settlements and similar programs involving notification, contact centers, claims processing, and fund distribution.  Analytics is a neutral, third-party administrator engaged to carry out certain administrative aspects of a settlement and does not have the authority to act outside of its terms.

In this matter, the Court ordered all unclaimed settlement funds to be disbursed to cy pres (a charity), and that was done in August. There are no settlement funds available to distribute.  Analytics had no choice but to comply with the Court's Orders.  This issue was escalated to Class Counsel, who indicated that there was nothing that could be done in this matter.

    Customer Answer

    Date: 10/27/2023

I am rejecting this response because:

Other options were available prior to distributing my money to another entity. Both Washington and Oregon have unclaimed property divisions. There is absolutely no excuse for not using that resource in order to ensure victims of this settlement get the money that rightfully belongs to them.

Aside from that, to say there is no money available to be distributed is an apathetic excuse. There needs to be a fund setup using a portion of left-over money from settlements to ensure people in hardship situations get the money they are owed. Instead of giving funds to a charity organization where 50% of it will go to administrators, you can directly send money to hardship settlement victims who couldnt claim their money that they need every bit as much or more than those in need of charity.

The fact situations like mine were never considered in the companys protocols and business agreements with the settlement litigators is lazy, short-sided, callous and unethical.

I will be pursuing media outlets to explore why settlement lawyers and administrators arent acting in the best interest of the victims they serve. With outlets widely available to claim money that belongs to people at any time without an expiration date, I will argue that both aforementioned entities are not acting in the interest of the public and are acting irresponsibly with their clients property.

I have spoken to a lawyer and we agree there is a hole in settlement litigation that needs to be addressed.
