            Minnesota Department of Labor & Industry Administrative Order

            On March 1, 2022,  the business received an Administrative Order from the Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry. The Order settles allegations that the business acted as or claimed to be a residential building contractor, remodeler, residential roofer, plumbing or electrical contractor in Minnesota when they were not licensed by the Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry, in violation of Minn. Stat. 326B.805, subds. 1 and 3, 326B.33, 326B.46, 326B.84 (4), 326B.082, subd. 11(b)(9) and 326B.84 (15) and 326B.082, subd. 11 (b)(6) and 326B.84 (16) (2020. . Under terms of the Order, the business is ordered to cease and desist from acting as or claiming to be a residential building contractor, remodeler, residential roofer, and offering to perform or performing plumbing or electrical work in Minnesota until required licensing is obtain.  The business was assessed a monetary penalty of $22,700.00, due when the Order was final.             In May 2021 we paid in full for contracted services - to put up walls to create a bedroom downstairs and office upstairs, to do electrical to add 14 lights, 1 new lightswitch and rework of 2, 6 new outlets, new paneled ceiling with trim, and install a window. He gave us a 30 day window in which the work would be completed and repeatedly promised to "focus" on our job. Unfortunately, he rarely showed up and only spent a few hours each day that he did (totaling around 20 hours worked, including that of his hired hand). Only a small portion of the jobs were finished in the promised time (1 wall finished, some framed, no work on ceiling, window). We ended up firing him because we needed the work done and after doing so found out the work he did wasn't to code so had to pay others to fix it. We'd like to recuperate the money he did not earn.

            We contracted ********************* for a deck stairs project mid April 2021, to start May 4th 2021. My husband is a disabled vet and was unable to do it his self. We reached out to the ***************** to keep our contractor local because we love supporting local. BIG MISTAKE! We were smooth talked into paying upfront in full over $1500 plus for a discount for this project. ********************* never showed up with several communications via email and text with only 2 responses back to us with Ill be there this day or Ill be there in that day said ******. Nope, he never showed up. Weve since asked for our money back and again no response until we had to go to great lengths of contacting his wife ******* since she is on the **** she ignored my message as well. I went to the police. They contacted him. I tried one last time to ask for our money back see snip of message back to me. It is not September 22, 2021 and we still do not have our money refunded. This company Handy Man Services owned and operated by ************************* is a horrible company and I would NOT recommend him or this company!
