On January 27, 2026 the State of Minnesota filed a complaint in Hennepin County District Court against Walser Automotive Group. Charges filed alleged the business was in violation of Minnesota Statute 297B. 10(a) regarding attempt to defeat or evade the motor vehicle excise tax.
On August 26, 2026 the State of Minnesota dismissed its complaint, finding that "Walser Preowned Sales LLC and Walser Automotive Group have complied with the terms of" an agreement reached on August 13, 2026. The business agreed to pay $490,000 in unpaid motor vehicle sales taxes (including $10,000 penalty), and will consent to random audits of compliance with the Minnesota Motor Vehicle Sales / Excise Tax law for a period of three years.
