Based on a referral from ******************** I took my 2001 Miata to them for a new clutch and slave cylinder, as well as our son's 2012 ****** Sienna. It is mostly in regards to the Sienna that I am writing this complaint, though I had issues with my Miata as well. In regards to the Sienna, I made it very clear to the guy who checked me in, *****, that I had replace the radiator and that I had lost some transmission fluid. I said to ***** it might be a good time to change the fluid. I also made it clear that I didn't want them to do a "flush", based on what I had been told. Long story shortened, ***** said they did a "drain 'n fill", not a flush. Ever since this our son has had trouble with his transmission and it was absolutely fine before bringing it in to Linear! I know it was fine for I would drive the car, our son drove it, and his wife drove it with never a complaint. We brought it back and Linear checked the fluid level supposedly and said that was fine, but that it needed a new "valve-body" for the transmission, at a cost of around $5K! I have learned since that Linear should never have replaced the transmission fluid, be it by "flushing" or by "draining 'n filling". With 168K miles on the van it should have simply been topped off and not changed. There is much on-line speaking to this issue and several shops near my home feel the same. Our son limped by for two months and finally took it to ******* ****** who said it needs a rebuild transmission, not just the "valve-body". When it acts up it can be quite frightening...jerking and shaking. Our son explained how it scared his four children on one occasion. I sat with owner ** on Nov. 5th to ask him if he could help our son with perhaps the labor. We were speaking very civilized and ** was listening, but then ***** but in. He said..."And your ****** up car"! I said it wasn't ****** up until we brought it in to you. He then said, "You're ****** up!" I'm 71 and have never been more insulted.
