On Saturday October 29, 2022 around 10:40am I went to Family Nails in ********** **. I had been given a gift certificate for Christmas, 2021 in the amount of $60. Upon payment I was informed that the gift certificate had expired in June of 2022, making it good for only 6months. I paid them $70 cash for mine and my daughters pedicures. I was informed by a friend a short time later that gift certificates that have been purchased with money can not expire. I went home and looked online and found some laws regarding gift certificates and expiration dates. Around 4:15 p.m. I returned to family nail. I showed the lady the laws on my phone and informed her that the gift certificate could actually not expire in that that was illegal to not accept it. She argued with me and kept asking me if I wanted a refund. To which I responded that would be the business like thing to do is give me back the money. She then turned around and started asking customers to help her explain to me why she was not going to give me back the money. I informed her three more times that it was illegal for her to not accept the gift card and give me back the face value that I had paid her earlier. At that point I became frustrated and I left the business because I wasn't going to stand there and argue in front of a business full of people. Unfortunately upon leaving I left the gift card laying on their counter. I am filing this complaint in hopes of getting my $60 dollars back but with out the gift certificate I understand that I may be out of luck. I hope to hear back from someone in regards to this matter
