Otto Tree service from Waterford Mi. bid a job for me on Aug. 8th for 3, 75+ yr old Very Large silver maple trees to be removed for me and my 2 neighbors whom are seniors and I am single. The trees are a threat to our homes and docks and boats as they have gotten so very large over the years. Me and my 2 neighbors agreed to let them do it out of the 15 bids I had received.. They scheduled it for Aug. 24-25th. Then there was some kind of death of a friend so they had to delay until today 9/9 and 1/2 day on 9/10, No problem, completely understand that. We signed a new contract. The trees are located, 1 on a lake side, and 2 between houses without much room. Not an easy job and this was Very clear from the beginning when bid. They showed on 9/9 looked around for 30 mins. The crane operator then showed up, they then said they wouldn't do the job. The crane operator wasn't comfortable with the space he had. SOOO, I asked "Could you at least do the lake tree since they are all here, and that one was to be climbed anyway (no crane) and could they climb the other 2? We have 1.5-2 days scheduled". He said, "yes but this is a 3 day job". It was bid for 1.5. He wouldn't start on the lake tree, or do any of it. He said, "we don't work weekends so I have to cover payroll for 3 days consecutively and beside that lake tree would take 1 entire day as it is". I said, "Ok? Can you do the one"? "No, we need 3 days". They got back into their trucks pulling a dumpster, front end loader, stump grinder, crane and took off down the road after 3 houses waited 4 weeks and 4 days for them to show up and leave!!! They have no intention of coming back either. Do not hire this company unless you want to be left with your trees!!!! Any company that operates like this would have destroyed my lawn anyway or septic I'm sure so maybe a blessing in disguise!!
