According to information provided by Muhammad Khalid, owner of Autohaulerz, the company stopped serving customers in June 2023 and the business' name is being used by scammers. While the owner did not respond to BBB requests for additional information, BBB is sharing this information to warn consumers.
Fake vehicle shippers often use names similar to a legitimate business, then use their U.S. Department of Transportation Motor Vehicle Carrier license or state license numbers to lend credibility to their scheme. This is a practice called "spoofing".
According to information in BBB files, in addition to Autohaulerz and Autohaulrz, consumers sent money via Zelle to "Virk J LLC, which uses the email address [email protected]. If you are currently in communication with Autohaulerz, or Virk J LLC please *do not* wire money.
If you have already sent money, BBB suggests contacting your bank immediately, then filing complaints through the FBI's Internet Crime Complaint Center at https://www.ic3.gov/ and BBB file a complaint, including screenshots and documents when possible. If you have additional information to share with BBB and other consumers, please submit a BBB Scam Tracker report at https://www.bbb.org/scamtracker.
BBB urges caution when choosing whether to do business with a company that only accepts payment via Zelle, Cash App, or similar money transfer services that provide no purchase protection to consumers.
