    My mother in law suggested I file this. The driving school canceled an apt about an hour before a test due to weather, but didn't refund me the 80$ for it. Instead I had to call and reschedule an appointment. Not sure of the legality with withholding funds there. Then on the rescheduled day, I had to cancel due to weather but was charged still. Finally took drivers test, but was failed due to accident avoidance that resulted in going off route. Instructor tried to suggest that I was mistaken, but she was looking at her notes and did not seen. Called to explain, as well as discuss the initial cancelation on their part; and had them hang up on me. Not sure how this all works, but if more people could know about their poor practices at least than that would be great.

    This complaint is not a valid reason for a refund.  E-Z Way has conducted Tianara's test and followed all requirements set by the **************************** guidelines.  We are required to cancel if snow and ice make the conditions unsafe to test.  Our website (under company policy) states that E-Z Way has the right to cancel due to weather and safety concerns.  The State of Michigan requires that we stop testing if snow conditions worsen.  Since weather in ******** is completely unpredictable, cancellations may happen with less than an hour before the test or even sometimes after the test has started.  Our secretary called and sent a text to Tianara on 1/20/25 about the weather cancellation.  When we can't reach a customer to reschedule or refund them, we leave a detailed message and ask them to call back to reschedule.  Most customers want the next available test but some prefer a refund.  E-Z Way would have been glad to refund Tianara but we have to be able to speak to her to get the correct information to complete the refund.  This is why we wait for the customer to call back to see what they'd like to do.  Tianara chose to reschedule and the $80 fee was applied to her second appointment on 1/26/25 (no additional charge).  On 1/26/25 Tianara was a "no show" for her appointment.  The road condition were safe by Department standards to conduct testing.  All examiners were administering tests and therefore our fee and refund policy is applied as documented on our website.  Tianara did not cancel with notice.  She later said she didn't make it to the test due to the weather but road conditions were good and all other testing was completed that day.  Lastly, Tianara took the test with a State certified examiner on 2/10/25.  She may not agree with the reasons for her failure but the State has a strict policy on what causes an applicant to fail the driving test (on website in Study Guide).  The examiner was completely correct when scoring Tianara and she definitely did not pass the minimum requirements set by the State of Michigan.  The scoresheet is correct.  The test was administered.  There is no refund when an applicant takes the driving test and doesn't pass it (clearly stated on website *******************************).  This is the same policy in Michigan industry wide.  We are sorry that Tianara doesn't think the examiner scored her test correctly.  E-Z Way has been testing for MDOS for 27 years.  We always follow procedure and all of the State regulations for scoring criteria.  We are contracted with the State and would not be allowed to operate if we make any changes to MDOS requirements.
