This was our 5th time eating there, we place our name on a waiting list and waited for us to get called. Once we got called, we sat down and eat. Once we finished eating, we asked the waitress for the bill for which she came back with a touchscreen small device for us to use to pay. We stated that we were going to pay half of the total amount in cash and the other half on a card. She took the cash and asked for us to enter our card, which we did. Our card didnt work and she said the machine was not working. She ended up bringing a second machine to try, that one was also giving us a hard time. She said our card went through but she needed to make sure so she went to the back and said the receipt wont print out, but it went through you guys are good to go. We didnt receive our receipt but we didnt think it was a problem because we had been there a few times previously with no issue (our fault we should have insisted on getting one). Fast forward three days later we saw we got charged the amount we were supposed but with a 20% add on. We were confused as to why we were charged incorrectly so we called the restaurant and asked what we were charged extra for to make sure we werent just assuming she gave herself a tip. As we spoke with the manager she said the 20% was a tip, we were extremely upset because she illegally gave herself a tip without our knowledge. We were very clear that we did not give her an electronic tip nor did we give her the permission to add on herself nor did she make us aware that she was doing this. The manager was annoyed that we wanted the tip to be refunded although we explained that this was done without our knowledge. She ended up refunding us then called us back 3 times to ask for our card information again because she said she did it incorrectly. The employee has committed theft and credit card fraud and somehow the manager was still upset at us and acted like it was inconvenient that her staff stole from us.
