- Additional Info:In May 2012, Scenic Expressions LLC of Lowell, MI notified the BBB of a fake check scam using a similar name.
According to information received at the BBB, some consumers receive a letter purporting to be from Publishers Clearing House. The letter states the consumer won $425,000 in a sweepstakes lottery. A check from Scenic Expression LLC at 190 Half Day Road, Lincolnshire, IL 60069 in amounts ranging from $1,400 to $4825.48 is provided, made out to the consumer. The consumer is instructed to call a claims agent to discuss the amount of the taxes and that the check will only "be activated" after speaking with the claims agent. The letter also instructs the consumer to keep the matter confidential.
Scenic Expressions LLC in Lowell, MI has received calls from consumers who are trying to locate Scenic Expression LLC of Lincolnshire, IL regarding this offer. Scenic Expressions LLC of Lowell, MI has advised the BBB that they have no knowledge of this offer and that the check is not from their company.
The BBB advises that this is a scam and that consumers DO NOT ATTEMPT TO CASH THE CHECK. If a consumer does cash the check, when it is returned as counterfeit, the consumer will be responsible to return the funds in full back to the bank.
