      If I could give no stars I would to this insurance company. Having delta dental was the worst experience for me and i will never forget the way this company unprofessionally handled this situation! I needed to get my tooth pulled because it was infected and I had to miss work for a week because they put my social security number under someone elses last name. I think it is unacceptable to not only put my social security under someone elses last name but also give a customer the run around when it was your fault the information got mixed up in the first place! I've talked to multiple employees at delta dental including the team lead and all of them were rude, unhelpful, and lacked empathy! Noone could give me an answer on how my social security got mixed up or when it was going to be fixed. All I got was a bunch of unless information and wasting my time! So while they were taking the money out for dental out of my check, it was getting mixed up with someone elses. Not to mention that in the delta dental email it states that your social security number is generally your member id so why was my information under someone elses??? Delta dental cannot give me a simple answer to that question smh!

      Delta Dental Plan of Michigan, Inc. (DDMI) is in receipt of the customer review. DDMI has investigated the consumer’s complaint and provides the following response. The consumer asserts that DDMI “put her social security [number (SSN)] under someone elses (sic) last name” and that no one has been able to provide information on how this occurred or when the issue will be resolved. First and foremost, DDMI did not intentionally or negligently put the consumer’s SSN under someone else’s name, as the consumer’s complaint suggests. DDMI provides and/or administers dental benefits for millions of individuals, all of whom provide their personal information (including their SSNs) to DDMI when signing up for benefits. While it is not common, occasionally situations occur in which two different individuals sign up for benefits using the same SSN. That is what occurred in this case. DDMI has specific steps it takes to try and resolve these situations when they are identified, and investigating the issue can take some time because DDMI seeks to obtain verifying information from both individuals. However, it should be noted that this issue did not prevent the consumer from obtaining her benefits. Within two days of contacting customer service, the consumer was provided a temporary alternate member ID so that she could obtain dental services while DDMI continued its investigation. Further, with regard to the consumer’s assertions that the customer service representatives with whom she spoke were “rude, unhelpful, and lacked empathy”, DDMI management has reviewed all of the calls and found that the consumer’s assertions are unfounded. The customer service representatives who assisted the consumer were courteous and professional in their dealings with the consumer. Finally, after the conclusion of its investigation, DDMI resolved this issue in favor of the consumer. The consumer was able to validate her SSN. Therefore, the consumer’s SSN was removed from the other individual’s account in DDMI’s records. While we empathize with the consumer, unfortunately DDMI is unable to provide the consumer with answers as to how or why another individual obtained and used her SSN in the first place, as that is not information that DDMI is privy to. However, there was no wrongdoing on the part of DDMI in this matter. The fact that another individual signed up for benefits with DDMI using the consumer’s SSN is not DDMI’s fault, and DDMI acted promptly and prudently in investigating and resolving the issue when it was brought to DDMI’s attention.

      Absolutely zero stars. I was honest upfront what I need and a game plan about orthodontics overcrowded issues for my 2 sons. They never shared that nothing is covered upfront. I waited months while They collected almost $100 a month from me for several months before I was told they have zero coverage. A single mother got scammed and I hope the top dogs listen and review the recorded calls by your people. This is taking advantage of people who are trying so hard on their own. Shame on you! Never trust these people or plan.

      Delta Dental Plan of Michigan****** (DDMI) is in receipt of the customer review dated January 14, 2025. Upon receipt, our *************************** promptly researched your inquiry. The consumer asserts that she was not advised upfront that the dental benefit plan did not cover orthodontic benefits and that monthly premiums were remitted for several months before she was advised that the plan does not cover orthodontia. The consumers enrollment call was reviewed and the benefits of the plan were explained to the consumer. The consumer stated they were looking for an *** plan for their sons that would also cover orthodontics. The customer service representative advised the consumer that orthodontic benefits under all *** plans are billed at the insurance negotiated rate if the member seeks treatment from an in-network provider. The representative did stress that a pre-treatment estimate should be sought so that the consumer would be aware of out-of-pocket costs in advance of obtaining services. No claims have been submitted on behalf of the consumers dependents for orthodontic benefits. The Summary of Dental Plan Benefits and Certificate states as follows with regard to orthodontia in the Exclusions and Limitations section: Delta Dental will make no payment for the following services or supplies, unless otherwise specified in the Summary of Dental Plan Benefits, and all charges for these services will be your responsibility. . . . 43. *********** services. In addition, ***********s. If this policy includes coverage for orthodontics it will be identified on and paid as reflected in your Summary of Dental Plan Benefits. A 10-day Right to Examine and Return Policy was afforded to the consumer as set forth on page 1 of the policy. Pursuant to the 10-day Right to Examine and Return Policy, upon receipt of the welcome packet a subscriber is afforded an opportunity to thoroughly review the purchased dental plan and cancel within 10 days if the coverage under the plan does not meet the subscribers satisfaction.Please note, however, that 5 claims not related to orthodontia were processed and paid in accordance with the consumers plan on behalf of the consumers two dependents.The representative who handled the enrollment call has been provided coaching to ensure that benefit information regarding orthodontia is clearly explained to consumers to avoid future issues.

      If I could give 0 stars, I would. Delta Dental is the worst insurance company I've ever dealt with. If you are a ******** that works in the **, do NOT opt for insurance with this company. I've been waiting over 6 months to be reimbursed for my dental cleaning which has been consistently denied because they can't read the ******** procedure codes. The first claim I submitted, which also took over 6 months to be approved after initially being denied, was eventually approved with ******** codes so how does this next claim get denied?? I was told by multiple representatives that there are employees on staff who know how to convert the ******** procedure codes to their ******** counterparts, so who's not doing their job?? I've called so many times in the last 6 months to resolve this and not one person has been able to help. Logically, you would think they would just look at the first claim and process the second claim the same way. I've never felt so absolutely defeated dealing with customer service. I had one customer service representative who just hung up on me after I asked to speak with a supervisor about the issue. I honestly just want to be reimbursed for my dental cleaning (coverage which I pay into!!), and to get a new dental insurance provider. This is not worth the headache to have to call multiple times everytime to submit a new appeal.
