  July 16, 2025: If your looking for mental facility for a love one, you will have better luck if not black nor minority, no finance or uninsured. I can’t tell you everyone who work for this facility is uncaring that would be unfair. I can’t tell only speak you on my son short stay. I can only spoke on the poor medical care for one nurse, ****** on the Elm unit. I can only on non-communication from Dr. ******, psychiatrist who believe don’t want or need to speak to family member. I was told by the admission clerk he doesn’t return call but I thought it was people without legal guardianship. He was right & other staffs. Dr. ******* made a horrible decision w/o speaking to me first, discharge my adult son that I have proof he wasn’t stable. Far from being stable. I finally got guardianship with the hope this time after 4 yrs dealing with my son’s multiple head trauma, concussions & decline brain, I would finally speak to a qualified psychiatrist of his symptoms who have observed since his career as a football at Troy, high as running back & linebacker at GVSU. Concern with TBI, concussions, & CTE. We are not blaming the schools who he loved & enjoyed being a football player. I blame Dr.***** with a grandiosity personality doesn’t consult family with treatment very important information. This premature discharge has caused my to be missing now for 8 days. I reached out to the only source in Kent County Network 180. Two administrators, perfect much told me to go kick rocks. Nothing they can do unless I have visible knowledge he’s a threat. He’s been seriously sick for 4yrs with now having developing split personality. Never in my life I used the race card, his situation is definitely that & because of being poor & another addicted black man vs seeing his brain is slowly dying & changed his behavior due to a passion of loving football. That was his only crime. When I read Google reviews Dr. ****** name was mentioned as having a God complex.

  Nothing but terrible experiences here. I’ve tried various providers in therapy and use their clinic of Caledonia for virtual psychiatry. Husband has had some good help, so not all bad but I’ve experienced provides with Major incompetence, rudeness and inability to even complete simple medication refills properly. Was told that the therapist didn’t feel like they’re helping me enough so I should see someone else, which is incredibly detrimental to someone’s mental health. Then was switched and I arrived only to be told there has been a scheduling error. They let me see who was available for EMDR but I was told that was literally all we’d be working on every week as the main thing. I’ve had lots of great therapist throughout my life, I have never ever had such a horrible experience anywhere else. I think these people do care but the way the practice is run and the amount of time they spend with you, quality and cailber of Care is very lacking and does more damage than good. Look elsewhere.

  The fact that they are "christian based" should give you pause.My child went here seeking mental health support, that support was lackluster at best.Billing and Insurance is awful, and can't stress enough how horrible their entire billing and customer service department is. I highly recommend any other provider, ANY, for your support.

  Very outdated inpatient facility. Redundant use of old therapies. Poor communication and planning involving patient input. Decisions about care are made behind closed doors. Diagnosis and treatment are not discussed with patient. Prolonged treatment to avoid positive outcomes too soon using ******** funds unnecessarily. Multiple incorrect diagnoses. Do NOT trust services here.

  This is by far the worst experience I have ever had with any health care provider in my life. It was traumatizing to be disrespected so blatantly and to not have my concerns taken seriously. I experienced no real or genuine concern for my safety or well-being while at a facility that touts this as their primary goal. I cannot believe how poorly I was treated by Pine Rest. What took place is not only unethical, it is negligent, unprofessional, and completely missed the mark. As a licensed psychotherapist, I am intimately familiar with mental health care and crisis systems. This was a complete and utter failure when it comes to standards for crisis care. I can’t imagine what this experience would’ve been like for the average client seeking treatment, let alone for someone in a greater state of distress.

  0 Stars. Highly discriminatory and condescending towards people because of the type of Health Insurance a patient carries. The most un-christianlike I've ever encountered.
