I had been a student at Valhalla Krav Maga since January 2021. I had always had a prepaid punch card membership, the terms of which had always been 10 classes for $180, good for 6 months. I had used up my previous card and purchased a new one on 5/1/23, before class when I was there. The owner *** asked me if I wanted to charge the card on file, nothing was said about increased cost nor shortening the amount of time it was good for. The next day I saw a $200 charge to my bank account when I was expecting it would be $180. I emailed him and asked why it had increased. He replied and said the cost went up as of 1/1/23.Shortly after the purchase of the card, I started the process of seeking a home to purchase, and my weekday evenings became busy due to my home search and later, pending purchase. On 6/23/23, I called *** and let him know I was about to close on the purchase of my home, and asked since I was moving further away, needed some time to get settled in my new home, and hadn't used any of the classes, could I please cancel the card and get a refund. He said no I could not get a refund, but he would put the card on hold. I said in the call that I should be able to use them all by 11/1/23, what I thought was the deadline for the card, he didn't state otherwise.I emailed *** 8/25/23 to confirm class was still on, he replied yes but then sent another email advising my card had expired 8/1 but he would give me an additional month to complete the classes I had paid for. This was the first time I had ever heard of this, I replied and advised my understanding was I had 6 months from date of purchase to use them,he advised he changed it to 3 months and increased the cost as of the 1st of the year. Never had I been notified of this previously.Had *** advised me of the change in terms of the card, I would not have purchased it. Instead he misrepresented the terms so I did not receive the training and classes I had paid for. Please refund the $200 back to my account.
